..."How close, soon, near, the end is..." But wait! Is he confoozled? Haven't they been explaining away their failed Armageddon predictions by saying the gate is still opem because so many are streaming to jion the Witnoid Droids??

One of those scary moments!!
by Sad emo inwe're having summer in the uk this week so earlier this afternoon i put my two guinea pigs out in their run to 'mow the lawn' while i went indoors and had something to eat.. i went back out later to check that they still had some shade from the sun, stepped out of the door just in time to hear a loud splash.
i dashed to the pond to see if it was one of my cats who had fallen in.
but it was one of the guinea pigs who'd managed to escape!!!.

Panic attacks and Jehovahs Witness!
by Gill inhow many of you had panic attacks when you were a jw and when leaving?
i know of many jw women and a few men who suffered badly with panic attacks.
since recently having another spate of panic attacks i suddenly realised that i had been having them all my life.

I suffered horribly from anxiety and panic attacks as a teen. Stress was intense as an elder's only child. At the book study, nobody wanted to answer, and it seemed like forever hearing silence and the clock ticking. Waves of heat swept over me, I got all flushed and felt like throwing up but i never did, just the miserable nausea. It started happening at the meetings, too, feeling like I had to run to the bathroom to be sick. Then, I developed an eating disorder. Due to so much nausea and stomach pain, I ate very little and got pretty thin. What a miserable time that was! I finally refused to do the school any more because I couldn't sleep for the weeks ahead of my talk date.
I had to be inspected before getting in the car for meetings, to make sure I was setting the example for the other kids. Soon, my stomach started churning and my pulse racing. Wonder why?? After I got my first place, and quit the meetings, I never suffered these spells any more.

Witlesses can't openly challenge what they hear. They'd risk getting da'd or df'd. So, they "murmur amongst themselves" and that creates a whole new headache for Crooklyn. It must be much more destructive, because the private murmuring can't be addressed, and explained away, like openly questioning could be.

When You Think About It----Jehovah's Witneses Are Just Weird!
by minimus inthe more i dwell on it, the more embarassed i am that i was ever a witness.
jws make big deals about nuthin'.
you can't say "bless you" if someone sneezes.

You can't celebrate Christ's birth, or Mother's and Father's Day. Women must wear skirts or dresses even if their legs get frostbite! Men can't have beards, even tho Jesus did. God needs the Dubs to turn in a time card every month, guess he can't see for himself whether they went door pestering or not, and there is a minimum quota he expects! And sooo much more!

Are you embarrassed?
by desib77 indoes anyone else find themselves embarrassed about their jw past?
i find that when people that know what i used to be ask me about it i am completely embarrassed by how foolish their beliefs sound especially things like the blood issue.
i can't stand when someone will say "why did you believe such and such....?
-
Virgochik
I'm very embar-assed! The only time I mention it is when the Dubs at work act all flaky and people are complaining about them. I can pretty much explain their behavior by saying I was raised in that religion, and this iswhy they say or do wacko things. But I could crawl under the sidewalk when people stare and say, "Ew, YOU were in that? Aren't you smarter than to fall for that crap?" It makes people think you aren't too smart, and that's embarassing.
We "born-ins" have the good excuse that we had no choice, lol!

The New "Invite" - How Stupid Can They Be?
by metatron inwhile traveling down thru new england, i happened across one of the new district convention "invites".. how dumb can the watchtower society get?
for the moment, let's ignore the fact that they expect people to drop everything.
within a radius of one, two or even three hundred miles and attend an inner city convention over a weekend.

I think they shot themselves in the foot with the artwork! It is just so fake looking, I doubt if the general public can relate to it. Look at the couples: A black family, and a white couple. How many today are mixed race? Is there a point being made, or is the picture so old, mixed marriages weren't common when it was done? And the sweater on the black man, very old fashioned, as are the 50's style dresses/skirts on the women. I really don't think anyone under 105 will find this appealing and scurry off to the convention site, which is shown absolutely packed in the picture. This is a very cultish looking production, and won't get them far.

My 19 year old "DF'd" niece tried to "kill" herself over a "married man"
by booker-t ina while back i mentioned on a post that my 19 year old niece was "df'd" for having an affair with a married man.
she is "obsessed" with this guy.
he is a guy at her job and he is in his 40's with a wife and three kids.
-

You must take her in right away and give her a safe, warm comfortable place to heal herself with dignity. If you don't rescue her, she will surely kill herself. Years from now, you'll all be so glad you saved her life. How would you feel if you don't help her, just to keep your brother happy, and she doesn't make it? You sound very caring and she needs that so bad right now, just a place to get back on her feet till she gets her wings again.

Do you have to be "gullible" in order to be a good JW?
by JH inin french we use the word "naif", which means to believe anything that's said without proof of it being true.
i think that gullible is the english translation.. i was very gullible in my early jw years.
i guess it's not faith that one needs to be a good jw, but gullibility...
-
Virgochik
And, "gullible" isn't always a bad thing... I think it means you're trusting of others, that they mean well and that most people are good. It means believing the best of others, seeing the glass as half full, having a big heart and not always being suspicious. So basically, gullible people are often very big hearted people who become taken advantage of by those who play upon their warmth and generosity.
