i am a long time lurker (almost 2 years) but first time poster.
even though you didn't know me before now, i feel like i have known a lot of you for quite a while.
from my time viewing jwd, i have learned many things and have felt like sometimes that you were talking directly to me.
Welcome Dawg! You can hang out with us here, you're always a welcome friend! (If you feel comfotable answering) Whereabouts do you live? Do you have any friends to help you through this? If not, many of us have been through similar situations, so fee welcome here, it will really help you, I promise.
Captain of The Black Pearl,
Jack Sparrow
this morning my doorbell rang, and i usually never answer my door unless i know someone is coming, because this is thick jw territory, but i did, and low and behold, its a lone jw.
he was working on the construction site across the street and was trying to locate the owners of a cat he kept seeing.
he didn't recognize me at first, he was looking at my halloween decorations, and then back at me like he knew something was off...so finally, he asked my name.
C'mon, a dude brother that carries around a pair of Plyers on his belt,.... is really all there to begin with? Don't think so, and neither are his relatives. You know who I mean.
wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world were religion/cults did not get in the way of family relations?
i have now gotten the "cold shoulder" for almost two weeks from my wife of almost 28 years.
i'm sure it has something to do with finally telling her the elders can kiss my ass, and that i don't want to be there when the kool-aid comes out.
Hang in there bro. As I heard it said on TV one time in a show, "Either it will work out....or....it won't."
i left the dubs about 10 yrs ago.... but didn't celebrate xmas until about 7yrs ago.
even then i didn't get a tree... just kept it simple.. do it all now!
love it.. even if it's not christs birthday..... who cares?????
Awww....esw1966, that's so nice! Like you, we are out now by about a year and a half. My wife is definately ready to have a first Christmas here at the house, but...I'm not so sure yet. Being raised a witness it just sorta grates me wrong, but yet I see nothing buy joy and happiness coming from it. I must admit, I become totally enchanted with all of the Christmas lights and trees and so forth, they're soo beautiful...I love to just drive through the neighborhoods and observe while the snow is falling. Everybody's got their own way of doing Christmas. I feel like the little kid I never got to be. I've even entertained buying a truckload of presents and handing them out to underpriveleged kids in the neighborhood or at the mall.
for anybody who attended the service meeting this week (or will this week)
notice the guilt-fest article that mentions not working overtime at work or taking weekend trips and missing the meetings.
ugh, any former witnesses remember looking down on people who went to the beach or took trips frequently on the weekends.
You are condemned if you seek higher education so you can find a job that pays well enough so you don't have to work 80 hours per week...
And you are condemned if you must work 80 hours per week because you don't have the education to get a job that pays a wage high enough to get by on fewer hours...
But...."We really need your contributions for the worldwide work, please send us your cash. So...you guys need to work those eight dollar an hour jobs, and when you get your paychecks, and after the taxes are deducted, send us what you have left."
this was inspired by another thread, where freetosee told of a young witness baptised at the tender age of 9, and disfellowshipped at age 12!!!
the mind goes wild at what a 12-year-old should ever be disfellowshipped for.
how would a kid be so unrepentant they would deserve losing their family and friends?
Good gravy.............I'm speechless.
this man molested at least 50 kids, many of them jw's in the early to mid 80's some in alaska in the early 90's.
please pm me if you have any info.
OK....I know this is gonna sound stupid....but....what does "bttt" mean?
i dont know if anyone else has received this email or not but apparently its making the rounds and my loving family decided to forward it to me.
at age 20 for 3 yrs - later attended gilead .
bro.
Yes, Jehovah's day will be here - sooner or later, but it will be here.
i mean, what's to stop this psycho from north korea from sending nukes over here and blowing us all away?
.
~luv, jojo.
OK, this should reassure you. There are:
(1) Nuclear Subs off the coast of NK-they can deliver a nuclear warhead right into NK - POOF! No more problem
(2) Recently there have been aircraft carriers moved into position on training missions. These aircraft carriers have nukes onboard - POOF! No more problem
If our goverment sees any inkling of a nuke headed our way BEFORE one is launched, NK is toast. By the way, did you know, there are little nukes and big nukes? They're measured by megatons of force released during the blast. I hope no government ever needs to detonate one, but if some loon decides to do it, there'll be hell to pay.
