this piece will be two minutes and 45 seconds long, the longest slot nightly news has for topics of interest, and will feature a discussion about the court documents that are found on the cd i recently produced, "secrets of pedophilia in an american religion, jehovah's witnesses in crisis.

A quick search with google on mormons and military service revealed to me that they don't object to it and have even fought each other during WW2.
I'm an atheist so the argument that JWs are the only religion that doesn't go to military service doesn't mean much to me, but it's definately a big one for JWs.
However I think that the whole we don't go to military service / we don't vote / we don't like science, is a bit hypocrit. JWs in there everyday lives use all kind of services/products that the millitary/politcal/science have provided. When they get ill they go to an educated doctor, etc. It's the whole us against the rest of the world feeling that they try to achieve.
I look at it all from a different perspective. JWs have done nothing to make things better in this current world. They postpone everything for later in paradise and do no effort to make things better for all people that are living now. While a lot of other people are at least trying to make the world a better place through military protection/politics/sciene. But the only thing that JW's like to point out is that the attempts of those wordly people haven't solved the entire problem yet.

Revelation Book - Outright Lie or just an "Untruth" ?
by AlphaOmega inis the following statement a lie ,or in the light of the feb 1st 2007 watchtower article "why be truthful", is it just an untruth?.
tremorsinhumansociety.
4 from the mid-1870s, jehovahs people had been anticipating that catastrophic events would start in 1914 .

You can find another lie if you look at the box at the top of the scanned page. There they say that 606 was moved to 607 because of progressing light or something. Just look up the reference in the footnote and you will see that there was no valid reason to move 606 to 607. The only reason was because there was an error in there calculation that needed to be fixed, so they adjusted there view of history instead of admitting the calculation was wrong.

Does the GB believe the doctrine themselves?
by GBSJG inafter reading crisis of conscience i got the impression that most on the gb actually believe all the doctrine themselves or at least that they believe that they are doing there best and god is helping/blessing them.. this sometimes seems unbelievable to me considering that they know about all the bad things in the org and see so many problems that the rank file normally does not notice or know about.
i'm currently reading combatting cult mind control by steve hassan.
when reading that book i can see that there are some cults that are far worse then the jws.

I'm currently reading Combatting Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassan. When reading that book I can see that there are some cults that are far worse then the JWs. But on the other hand about 70% of the tactics described in that book are used by the GB. Is this pure coincidence? I sometimes wonder if they have also read the book...
What do you think do they believe it themselves? Or are they deliberatly using mind control tactics on the rank and file?

by DannyBloem inhaven't been to the meetings some months now.

GBSJG
Hi Danny,
I haven't been to the meetings for 3 months now and haven't been in field service for more then 6 months. Still haven't seen or heard any elder.
I do get visits from other brs & srs that ask how I'm doing. When I was active I used to get a shephard call every year. But just like you I'm not waiting for it now.

That feeling that it could al be false how did you experience it?
by GBSJG inwhen i started researching i was still convinced that jws had the truth.
so i read some critical articles by ex-jws about certain teaching and i started to do some more research.. at this time i have successfully faded and no longer believe anymore.
but i can remember the moment when i first allowed the thought in my mind that it could all be false and not the truth.

At this time I have successfully faded and no longer believe anymore. But I can remember the moment when I first allowed the thought in my mind that it could all be false and not the truth. That moment was really really strange. It was a mix of pure freedom and anxiety, thinking about all the people that are misled and how could it be possible that I was misled?
Did you have that same moment, and how did you experience it?

Where do you see yourself in next 5 years??!!??
by zagor inwell have some time so thought to write this.... i went today to uni to speak to my supervisor and he asked me a question that locked me in my chair for few milliseconds.
he asked "where do you see yourself in next 5 years....and beyond that" then he went "... or better still imagine yourself in time 5 years from now, what would you like to have achieved?".
though knowing full well what two 'things' i really wanted to have in my life more than anything i was really locked into this moment almost powerless, because his next question was that 'one inch' punch which blew me off as if struck my bruce lee himself, he asked "...and what are you doing now to make sure that really happens that way?".

That are some excellent questions. Some people always seem to complain about how there lives are at this moment. But they are not taking any steps to change there live to the better. In the end often only you can really change your own life.
I'm almost done with my fading so in the next 5 years I hope I don't need this website anymore. I got a lot of help from this site from the start of my research till now. But I hope I really get over it and no longer see my self as en ex-JW but just a normal person. It's a waste of my time to read about all the things the WTS does and get upset everytime about it, it's just not worth it to do that for the rest of my life. I understand, that because most of my family is still in I will still reguraly get confronted with it and never really forget about it. But I want it to be a small part of my life not as big anymore as it is now.
Must JWs will probably answer to this question that they want to be in the paradise by then. That gives them a good excuse to be lazy and don't change anything in there lives that they are upset with but just to keep complaining and hoping.
