Compare-the WTS & the Chinese Communists
by singsongboi ini have a long time interest in china -- and continual amazement at the similarities between the way the wts presents it's propaganda and the way theat the chinese communists do it....... last sunday, in beijing, a fire in an internet cafe killed 24 people - there was a swift response from the "leadership" -- all 2200 internet cafes in beijing were closed as a result.
just like politicians in the west, this was clearly a knee-jerk response by beijing leaders, as they tried to make sure that they could not be blamed for poor supervision of the growth of these places.. but the really interesting thing, is the way that the state owned media jumped on the bandwagon and the language they used..... .
"don't let the internet bars destroy kids" - headline in the people's daily.. .

Your View On Capital Punishment
by Dutchie inwe all know the bible's view on capital punishment.
in fact, in the 1969 edition of aid to bible understanding, the author notes the following: .
"the value of life is considered so sacred by god that the blood of a murdered person is viewed by him as defiling the earth and such defilement can be cleansed only by shedding the blood of the murdered.

Witnesses Are Great Folks
by FrankRaven ini know i'll get a lot of flack from this, but witnesses are good folks.and your average witness is concerned about you,non-witness.i've been there and i almost became one.my ex did become one.
it's not what they are taught by the watchtower,it's how one is taught.if one was what a witness was taught there wouldn't be any witnesses.it's how one is taught.most of the witnesses always told me,if you have any questions there's a book by the society that will answer your question.
(s)the watchtower is persistent.well so was i.the more books i read that the watchtower wrote, the more questions i had.and i,always, made sure i stayed on the topic.they never did.they always avoided my questions.and they are real good at that.

"Good folks" does not equal the arrogant, self-loathing people i grew up around. This even includes my family...Troll alert! bing bing bing!

JW's not identifying themselves?
by DanielHaase ini had a visit this morning from a couple of older sisters from a local congregation that i'm not terribly familiar with (i don't live in the territory for the congregation that i was raised in).
anyway, i didn't have the balls or energy to question them about the usual things (recent dateline, etc.
) because they were these sweet little old black sisters that really reminded me of the witnesses at the beginning of "friday".

Ahg hell, I'm really getting of my point here. The thing I noticed after they left is that they never (ever) identified as Jehovah's Witnesses. Is this a new thing after the Dateline story, or is this just some thing they started doing after I left(about 3 years ago)?

Do you ignore certain posters?
by LDH inok before we get off on the wrong foot this is not a flame war.
i read a comment by belbab on hillary's post this morning...he remarked that he had asked a question after the 09/11 attack, that no one answered.
well, i didn't even remember reading it, so i did a simple search.

I can't say I avoid reading any posts because of the author; it's usually the subject that interests me. The only threads I get away from are the ones that take an entire night to read. I appreciate researched stuff, but when you keep scrolling and scrolling down for the end...That's when I hit the "back" button..

Will I Die?
by professor inmy doctor recently told me that my blood pressure is normal, but at the higher end of normal.
i should lower my cholesterol level via diet and exercise.
fine.. recently i applied for a job that allows me to further my education during the week but will still provide for my family.

I don't think you'll die, old buddy. Many things could have caused your blood pressure to go up at that moment (excitement of the new job, anxiety of the physical, etc.). I'm not saying you don't have high blood pressure; you should get a complete cardiac work-up (enzymes, EKG if you haven't already). There are many safe "blood pressure" meds out there that will stabilize your BP if diet and exercise doesn't work. Don't sweat it. Millions of people in this country(even some in their 20's) that take medication for their blood pressure. Talk to your doctor...
