  no i haven't read the replies to my last post although i'm finding it hard to resist.. but let me just add some things.

  there is no doubt that some of you 'apostates but you don't even know it' thought you have given some very clever respones.. just to clarify, i've had my share of the world and i'm glad i'm out of it, you however are hanging around on a jw site this is my first and last day of looking on here - and i'm only on here to wnd you lot up, .

  how easy was it really - i'm off sick, how many of you just haven't got anything better to do.

  Too bad he didn't make his moniker "you people are funny and so sad" then we could shorten it to ypafass.

  Could be scorchio of the "didn't last very long" class. If he starts trashing Americans and people from Monaco I'd say we've got our guy.

  I'm curious as to how old this woman is. Her handwriting looks to be either that of a sixth grader or a psychopath. (Not that I have great handwriting or anything). And her little RSVP card...so fourth grade check yes or no.

  There was a thread recently analyzing Russell's handwriting. Where's that guy? I'd be interested to see what his impression of hers is.

  it seems as though many people come to this board and leave in a short space of time.. it's a pity.. there are people on this board who are very nice and polite even when discussing various views.

  this leads to understanding and concern.

  i would like to meet you people.. please post in here.. i term nice as being kind, not cursing, love for god almighty, thrives on the right things in life, not hurting other's feelings, etc.. blessed star

  SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT re: Riley Trust Tobacco Compan Stock & WTS

  i have no interest in pontificating on this matter which to me seems so straightforward.

  however, since i continue to see newbies and others periodically post in error stating that the wts "owns" tobacco company stock i believe that this should be corrected and the matter put to rest, hopefully for good.. .

  Eduardo's post is very informative and I understand his points about the technicalities of the situation in that the WTBTS was never the investor. They just received a charitable contribution no matter the source. However, Scully makes a very important point about accepting a gift in good conscience and therein lies the dilemma. Joe Drug Dealer on the street could make 10K selling crack cocaine and then deposit the cash in the contribution box at his nearest Kingdom Hall which the WTBTS would rightly accept. It was made as a donation and the "source" of the money is a non-issue. The difference in the Philip Morris situation is that there is indeed a paper trail. The documentation seems readily available but I highly doubt that they would do any research before depositing the money. And I'm sure the check from the Riley trust didn't have a notation on it that "hey, brothers, we made some of this dough on smokes". Not that even if it did do I think they would return it.

  I can volley back and forth in my mind on this issue and play devil's advocate for every aspect, but the true bottom line here is the Almighty Dollar $ign. Money is money no matter where it comes from and they want it.

  i'm in charge, frequently, at work.

  i tend to be too laisser-faire.

  i expect the people that i'm working with to know their jobs and do it.

  jgnat, great advice. I've managed four departments in my work history and found that the only way to get the productivity required was to not cross that friendship line and be a little bit of a hardass.Of course the slackers hated me, because God forbid you actually ask them to do their job. But oddly enough, what happened is the people who were truly good workers, exemplary employees really supported me and appreciated what I was trying to accomplish. A couple of them actually followed me when I changed companies and I rehired them at a new place. It's funny because now there are about five of them (we all have moved on to new companies) that I consider great friends.

  But I guess the reason is we all had similar work ethics. If you are trying to manage people who have lesser work ethics or values than you there is no way to be "friends" with them in the workplace. You have to be all manager and only manager.

  Funny. Seriously, I am. No just kidding, I'm really very serious. Which is pretty funny actually, because I'm not serious at all except when I'm trying not to be funny. Which is seriously like never.

  this quote is actually talking about the "uncertainty principle" - part of quantum physics... but it made me think of something else,.

  Absolutely. I tend to agonize less about all the possible avenues to take in a situation and having to pick one. I'm more at a place now in my life where I rely on my intuition or instinct (which probably is really just a combo of past experience and knowledge) and know that it will lead me in the right direction...which is a really peaceful kind of place to be. For a time I thought it was just maturity, but I've dared recently to take it a step further and think that perhaps I've acquired some of that wisdom stuff that supposedly comes with age

  "Deliverance at Hand" District Convention Invitation

  truthsetsonefree has provided spiritual food at the proper time by emailing me these scans.... this is the little hand-bill invitation for the next district convention that we've been hearing about.

  considering the fact that most jws never actually read such things before handing them out, i suspect that many people will be given these things but never actually told when and where the convention will be held!

  on the back it says: "the local congregation of jehovahs witnesses invites you to attend the convention that will be held at the time and location shown here.
