very interesting, I never knew that. But it was many years ago and as you know if it is older than the current issue it is already out of date and does not count! To think I went along with that one before, when the Bible does not change...

Biting my tongue at last nights bookstudy
by GBSJG inso i went to last nights bookstudy which discusses 6 paragraphs of the daniel book so there was lots of room for comment.
the study itself already was pretty frustrating it was taken from chapter 17 paragraphs 24-29 and it goes on about how the fds has to be lead by jehovah because of all the prophecies of daniel that fits them (1335 days was this convention to that etc etc).
but the paragraphs also mention the failed prediction for 1925. here are some interresting quotes from the book: .

it's true, from the Daniel book Witnesses don't have the exact dates between the conventions to calculate the days in Daniel because the Org. deliberately omits them. Why, since an exact, to the day fulfillment, would be impressive? It is simple; the dates of the mentioned conventions do not fit exactly - Jehovah got the number of days wrong!!
Or, could it be possible - the Org. is still faking the fulfillments? Would God's true organization need to lie? No
Of course, showing this to a 'dedicated' Witness will have no effect - they will say something typically ingrained like 'we must wait on Jehovah to clarify matters through his apointed channel' etc.
But for those who have the intelligence to realize it - they are being conned by the GB!

The Best Revenge...
by CountryGuy inis living a good life..... i'm not sure who said it, but is it ever so true.
the jws think that once we leave the "protection" of the wts, we are doomed to wander through life aimlessly and without purpose.
and, maybe i did that for a little while.. but, i have been on a mission to take my life back from those rotten sobs.

congratulations. Life outside the Org. can be great - not the evil scary satanic world the JW's are told it is for individuals.

JW's are not supposed to be on the Net discussing their faith, so any that are are fair game

with this in mind, i have added a chat room to the watchtower crucial criteria web site.

Please explain: Faithful, Discreet & Slave
by Amnesty Vendor ini am not trying to vent here, however i have somewhat of an internal dilema.
having been a very faithful, committed jw for many years, .
i do not understand how the (current) gb justifies applying the title fds .

On what basis do they claim to be Faithful, Discreet or a Slave?
They don't! It never ceases to amaze me how many Witnesses with many years attendance at meetings don't know this. The confusion comes from reading one thing and seeing another. In order to overcome the contradiction, Witnesses stray from the official teaching.
So what is the official teaching?
The FDS is supposedly ALL anointed ones on earth at any given time. Their total is 144,000 but while they live on earth, they are of the FDS which feeds their fellow "domestics" spiritual food at the proper time.
Correct.
Yes, it does not happen that way in practice! It is a primary way to prove it IS NOT GOD'S ORGANIZATION.

We went in to see my son and she spoke quite happily with him. He also is a disassociated JW and a born-again Christian
Sorry to hear of your experience. It is easy to think she ignored you because you are DA'd. But the above quote suggests otherwise.
More likely this is a personal issue between you both.

the faithful and discreet slave....... who are they really?
by primitivegenius ini was asked.......... since i dont belive what the witlessness do.... who do i consider to be the faithful and discreet slave?
now im not ashamed to admit i havent quite figured that out yet, so my reply was, it could be any minister who truely looks out for their congregation.
so my question is this....... what and who do those scriptures represent?

A very ambiguous and vague turn-of-phrase that appears only once in the bible.
Actually its 2 times - it's in Luke too.
Even Witnesses don't understand what it is. Every meeting they will thank the FDS for this and that, but actually the FDS, as defined by the Org. itself is not involved at all. Instead it is all controlled by the GB - that's why so many Witnesses even think the GB is the FDS, contrary to official teaching. Yet the GB does NOT consult with the FDS they claim to represent, and they are NOT appointed by the FDS to represent them.
So, ask you friend who is the faithful slave, then if they say it is the GB, tell them the WT does not teach that. If they answer correctly, that it is the annointed ones living at any particular period in history, then ask how come the GB does not consult with them in any way. They don't even keep a central list of who partakes!
