Zagor, you've never put a beloved pet down, have you? I'll put that post down as an insensitive attempt at lightening up the mood. Didn't work.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and prayers. I got through it. I am confident it was the right thing to do for Spunky, and the timing was right--after she died, we looked in her mouth and wondered how she could eat at all with that tumor in her throat. Poor baby. She went down fighting tooth and nail, too. Literally. And I had sedated her first. My heart hurt.
I have a "replacement kitty" that came into our home about a year ago, and he immediately moved into Spunky's spot on my bed.
I felt even worse about the cat with my mom and dad failing, too. Somehow the grief all gets tangled together.
My brother flew home from out of state to help with my folks, and I was able to get through the business with the cat without being responsible for Mom's care, too. I needed a little opportunity for a meltdown. I'm a emergency room nurse, and a pretty good one, if I say so myself. I can handle a lot of awful stuff, but I was on absolute overload. Bless my brother's heart!

Hi, all. I've posted before about Spunky, my old cat.
www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/113071/1.ash
Tomorrow at 2 p.m. central daylight time (same as eastern) I have the appointment to put her down. I would appreciate prayers and good thoughts. I've had her 6 months longer than predicted. She's still getting around, eating some and interacting, but she had a bad episode Sunday. That's enough.
Plus my mom fell again on Tuesday and broke her other shoulder (the first one isn't quite healed) so life is complicated right now............ Thanks all.

I think it's a great letter--not arguing doctrine, and citing his own comments to you. I hope he thinks hard about it.

Welcome! I also identified with much of your story--growing up 'in the Truth' was much the same here in the middle of the United States. You're a great writer--I'll look foreward to your postings, too! Nancy

Another Letter from an ex to his Family... Opinions???
by esw1966 inwell, i just wrote another one of many letters to my sister and father who are still jw's and who have refused any contact with me as any 'good jw' does.
i have seen other's letters from others and i have enjoyed them.
so, for curiosity sake, i am submitting my letter for others to read.

Honest opinion? Sincere, but too preachy. Words like "convicted" will throw up a wall.
I'm glad you are happy and found the loving, true God! Nancy

Would this offend you, if the government made this policy
by free2beme inif the government had this policy .... given that 100% of the terrorist who did 9/11 were arab, and most terrorist are arab.
we as a government will racially profile the arab population and visitors to our country.
spending more time inspecting them, checking them out, and making sure that they are singled out and watched more then any other race.. would this offend you?.

Gee, dvw, you said what I was thinking but was too hesitant to say. Terrorists can come in different colors, but I think tighter scrutiny for those who fit the profile is the quite logical response.

my father worked his butt off for years at his job and for the wbts.. in the 60's he was a painter and use to bathe in benzine to clean him self off.
this was before anyone new this was a cancer causing chemical.. he worked for years at assemblys, and as an elder etc.. he realized the foolishness of 1975 and started saving big time leaving my mother a nice savings account plus a huge retirement fund.. he developed kidney cancer at age 60 due to the benzine and survived.

Dear R, I am so sorry you lost your dad. And your mom will never see the injustice of it.
That's a HUGE gift, when you think about how hard he had to work to get save that kind of money.
There's nothing I can say that can make you feel any better--just know you have every right to be angry, and I'm shaking my head in disgust, too.
