So you are getting a few cavities fixed at a time, and keeping good financial records of it, right? Bless your heart (and teeth), I've heard of that being a bad side effect of some meds, but I had no idea THAT severe....

Of course, it's been almost 30 wonderful years since I was dragged to an assembly, and I can't possibly imagine why anyone would go willingly...
As I recall, if you don't go looking like the 'cookie cutter' version of a witness, and carrying the right Bible (NWT, black, and visibly worn) you will be immediately identified as someone who is :
1. "New in the Truth"
2. "Interested"
or
3. "Weak in the Truth"
The first two will get you lots of handshakes, welcomes, and offers of directions to the literature counter. The latter will cause parents to pull their children tightly against them and frozen fake smiles. However, rebellious teenagers will find you a facinating thing to look at and wonder about during the sessions. Don't appear too squirrelly, though, or some chubby dark suited guys will tail you closely and call you brother a hundred times.
Is my memory correct?

Check out this sad, sad obituary and picture in my local newspaper. The body was found after 5 days in the river by a fisherman. Police are 'investigating' but no headlines about homicide. I suspect suicide or accidental death while intoxicated, just based on local rumor. I have not had an opportunity to ask any local active witness about this boy.
Why would a family put a 'my space' style picture like that in the obituary?!?!?! I look at it and see a desperation barely hidden behind wild attention seeing...but I don't know anything about him. Does anyone else?

Falling Asleep at Assemblies
by LouBelle inyes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.
most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.
the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

Gary! Those pictures brink back memories!!! My dad and I were really into photography, and we walked around with 'volunteer' name tags on and take 'press photos'. My secret goal was to take pictures of sleepers, nose pickers and immodest dressers. Since we developed our own black and white pictures at home, that plan only lasted a couple of assemblies before I was in trouble for wasting film. (That was back long before digital, kids). But there are still assembly pictures at my folks' house of strangers being photogenic!

Sensitive Child
by Bobbi inso... my condo complex is getting some badly needed new lighting.
finally, the tall new lights are installed and they are removing the much shorter older lights.
they left them laid on the ground for a few hours while they dug up the old bases.

Was he crying and wringing his hands over the loss of the lights? My daughter would absolutely 'melt down' over a new coat, a trade of cars, a furniture rearrangement, loud noises...finally medicated at age 11 and had a miraculous relief of anxiety symptoms. quirkiness vs anxiety that interferes with life...
