a bethel insider in the know told me that all of the child abuse lawsuits where the watchtower bible and tract society was one of the defendants were settled back in the beginning of this year.
i questioned it and called napa myself and they were absolutely settled back then.

will my Mom be in some big trouble?
by freebird2000 init has been 13 years since i flew the coop,so i am not sure what changes or might i say new insight has come about.. here is the problem.
my mom who has been a witness for 18 years and is 73 years old has lymphoma of the brain.. in order to have a chance at all she is taking chemo and has decided to accept blood platlets.. she is still a loyal j.w.
and nothing has changed to her.she understands what she is doing but evidently thinks it won't matter.. under these circumstances does anyone know what or if they will take disciplinary action?.

better late then never. If memory serves most blood parts are "a conscience matter". I think the only thing forbiden is red blood cells. Could be wrong, but I don't think so.

by LovesDubs indid that mentality keep you in fear and prevent you from leaving?
how many times were we told that the kingdom halls would be our ark and that we needed to keep going to the meetings so that we wouldnt miss the announcement that the great tribulation was beginning and the doors of the ark were closing...even though the bible says nobody knows the day or the hour?
did any of you ever pray for your relatives to die so they would have a ressurection and not be destroyed at armageddon?

Anyone have a technique to explain mind control, without implicating WTS?
by whyizit inevery once in awhile i will be talking to my jw friends and the subject of other religions will come up.
they love to take jabs at other religions, as most of you know.
i remember one time we were talking about a cult (not wts) and i mentioned that this guy i knew got kicked out for smoking a cigarette, eternal damnation loomed over his head, while this other guy received a very minor reprimand for screwing some other guy's wife.

I agree with scully. that is a great book.
A main point is that you don't understand a group that is so affraid of loosing their followers that they don't allow them to read outside info for fear of loosing them. They have several people in position to run blocker any time someone starts to ask questions or get destracted.
Watch the Truman Show. It is amazing how closely the organization follows that movie.
