  What went on in Mexico and Malawi?

  hello all i hope you are well.. forgive my ignorance again, but what happened in mexico/ malawi?

  when did it happen?.

  i keep seeing references to these places in various topics.. anyone got a good link that explains it clearly.

  Secret Santa (Gift Exchange) 2006

  well christimas will soon be here !!.

  gadget did a great job of organising the forum gift exchange the last couple of years so i thought i would give him a break and volunteer to organise it this year.. for those that are new basically what it involves is that those who want to join in will post to this thread and then pm me their name and address.

  enjoying being single.. right now i have a "worldy" girlfriend (note the quotes " ").. but there's this incredibly beautiful jw girl that has shown interest in me.. (i'm not df or da, just not going to meetings.

  so i had to go to the ER on the weekend

  and they start putting all these iv's in my left arm,,after the second one, i said, with doctor on other side....why the second iv,,he said for blood.

  i am like,,blood, what if i dont want blood.......he looked at me puzzled..... now i am out 10 years and i am instantly afraid to take blood.

  go figuire, thought i had worked out a few things, guess not.

  Sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. I hope you are home recovering nicely.

  Yes, it is a bit shocking when something from our JW past surfaces and hits us in the face when we least expect it.

  It's maybe a good reminder for us to re-think our stance on blood and rescind any old Advance Medical Directives that may be on file with our physicians and local hospitals. I had an 'incident' last summer and it was very, very difficult to get it rescinded during and after my admittance. I was on my way down to have some emergency vascular work done when I *finally* got someone to bring me a new AMD.

  Update it now, before it's too late.

  Ex-JW caller on the Dr Laura Program

  Back in the early 80's I worked nights and weekends at a local radio station. The general manager was an elder in my congregation and the office manager was the wife of a ministerial servant. (Other people in the congregation worked there, too.)

  Laura Schlessinger had a show there for a few weeks. One day she closed her show, packed her things and took her light home with her. She never returned. Never gave notice. Never told the general manager. Just left.

  A friend of mine told me about it. There were bets on if she was gone for the day or just gone.

  She was gone.

  Odd one. I just never trusted her. I was surprised that she became as popular as she did but thought her behavior to be completely unprofessional. I don't think there was anything she was disgruntled about. Seems that she was just offered a better deal somewhere else and didn't see a need to tell anyone that she would not return. There was a scramble to fill her time slot the next day.

  When are ex-jws/Apostates going to get on with their lives?

  i went to a ex-jw's potluck the other day and it will be my last time going.

  there were about 20 ex-jw's there just bashing the watchtower society for 2 hours.

  i had all i could take and left.

  Sometimes its good to have a sympathetic ear listen to your story.

  Sometimes its good to be the one to listen with understanding and compassion.

  Sometimes it's good to steer the conversation in a more postitive direction. For example, at the group I meet with someone asked: Now that you are out, do you vote? A couple of us have not registered yet so we asked back: How do you register??

  Talking about the feelings of empowerment that go with growth was possible after being allowed to unload some sadness, frustration and anger.

  Two hours is a long time to listen to a bitch-session. Wasn't anyone there able to talk about the things they've done to move forward???

  I had a few friends down there in the 80's and 90's. Don't know if was north south east or west, though.

  One lived about 10 minutes from Horton Plaza. (Claire Mason was her name back then)
