I was rejected, too, for reasons relating to my cancer history. For me, it was not so much the cancer itself but, rather, the chemotherapy. Go figure.

4 Years ago JWN Poster 'LDH' called JR Brown himself - Public Relations spokesman for the WTS. She started with questions about a Bethelite that had just been arrested then sequed into their position with regard to Spirit-Directedness.

The organization exists only to see the Good news proclaimed of God's kingdom which is made up of Chosen Rulers who are in heaven. The JWs will be subjects of that kingdom.

Older man marries younger woman, yes; younger man marries older woman?

i understand that marriages between an older man and a much younger woman are a fact of jw life.

the reasons i have seen include the lack of an available prospect, of the fact that the older man has some power in the congregation and therefore marrying him is something like an advantage.

i wonder what the advantage can be, and i would appreciate any light on this (new or old).. but, how often does a younger man marry an older woman?

Oh! A woman I grew up in my original cong was my age. She married someone I used to babysit when he was 3.

I still don't understand that one AT ALL. The marriage didn't last long. Less than 5 years.

She was always man-crazy. My guess is that the men her age were tired of her overly flirtateousness and she just could not 'land a man' so she decided to go after 'fresh meat'.

The couple that studied with my parents back in 1970 were 8 or 9 years apart in age. She was older.

Elder in my last cong was 20 years older than his wife.

We also had publisher that was married to non-jw who was about 15 years younger than she.

Same cong, a well-to-do-businessman in his mid-50's married a 20-year-old.

Seems I've seen it quite a bit.

Their rationale, above whatever similar reason as non-jw's is that in the 'New System' all will become about the same age.

Whatever suits them, I guess.

i have been pointing out that the shunning doctrine is unscriptural and unloving (jw speak).

he texted that my whole family stayed in the "truth" it was me who left.. please give the concise words to answer him.

i know it won't really do any good to try to reason with him, it will just feel good to "nail it.".

Maybe something along the lines of: BECAUSE I deeply value truth, honesty and integrity, I cannot tolerate association with such an unchristian organization as Jehovah's Witnesses. ?????

Did your Kingdom Hall have kitchen?

Some Halls have apartment attached for Special Pioneers or Circuit Overseers. The kitchen may be in the apartment.

The Assembly Hall in Woodland Hills, CA had a big kitchen for when regular meals were served.

More Society cutbacks - Society says "screw you" to the publishers yet again

at our service meeting it was announced that there is a change in the manner in which magazines are now to be delivered to the congregations.. up until now, magazines were sent to each kingdom hall via ups.

in years past magazines were sent to each congregation po's home address via ups.. going forward, magazines will be sent only as far as the assembly hall.

it is the responsibility of each kingdom hall to send brother(s) twice a month to drive out there, pick up the magazines, and return.. this of course saves a little bit of money for the society - shipping larger packages to fewer addresses will cost less.. however, what about the expense to the local congregations?.

I remember the servants in my old hall doing this years ago (15, 20, 25 years ago) so doesn't sound completely 'new' to me. I can't imagine that they would have changed that pick-up arrangement in this area to shipping direct in the past decade. But I have no confirmation/info on that.

Maybe this is a change for just the more rural areas as city and suburban areas have been doing it this way all along?????
