Apostate jokes:
by SixofNine inan ex-jw walks into a bar and orders three mugs of bud.
he sits in the back of the room, drinking a sip out of each one in turn.
when he finishes them, he comes back to the bar and orders three more.. the bartender approaches and tells the ex-jw, "you know, a mug goes flat after i draw it.

by Free!! ini was wondering if some of you can give me some advice in how to get over the fact that i feel so inadequate when trying to make new friends!!

when i was in i hated the weekends because i was basically forced to go to service, now i hate the weekends because if the few friends i have are busy w their families or partners i am stuck all by myself... :( please give me some pointers i feel super lonely!

Use your dog as an ice breaker. People who have pets - especially dogs - love to talk about them. Take your dog hiking and on walks. Stop to talk to people who are outside. Take your dog to a dog park. Take your dog to the local coffee shop and sit outside for a while. Talk to people who stop to pet your dog.
It's just little social banter, but could lead to more. As you talk to people, start getting more involved in your community.
It's a start.

I was sad to learn this.
He and the band sure brought a lot of music and fun into my life.
Mine, too.
Seen him perform many times. He will be greatly missed.

Hi, new to this forum. Figured I'd let everyone know about my story before I got involved.
by JonathanH inif you just want the juicy details where i leave, i'll make disclaimer where it begins, if you just want to know what happened with the elders and organization after i realized it wasn't true, i'll mark that seperately.
we didn't do jack shit in service, or in the congregation.
maybe this was how jehovah came about?

I also missed this the first time (probably because I'm not paying much attention to anything X-JW lately).
Marking for complete read later. The bit I read was good and I know it's captivating.
Welcome to JWN. Looks like you've found yourself a vacation 'roosting nest'.

I have not been here much at all so don't know everyone's current situations/status's/stories and did not know that you were not well.
However, I *am* glad to know that you are getting better.
Be well.

sinis wrote: I am taking some time off after she gets back and we will do some fun things around town or short day trips out of town. Will have some flowers and diner ready when she returns, probably will take her out.
Let her tell you all about the fun she had. Or if that's too boring/frustrating for you, ask what were her top two favorite things that happened?
I like that you are planning on a little something for when she gets back for just the two of you. You'll be refreshed from doing what you want and she will have had her own fun.
Sounds like a good plan to me!

I remember an illustration "something" like this in a talk one time LOL
by therevealer inmy wife stood before me with some items in front of her.
without a word, she emptied a large jar of mayonnaise and proceeded to fill the empty jar with rocks right to the top, rocks about 2" diameter, then asked me if the jar was full.
i agreed that it was.. she then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them in to the jar.

This was presented at one of the circuit assemblies I attended (15-17 years ago). I thought it was a good illustration and actually motivated me to stay in for a while a longer.
Imagine my surprise when 10 or 12 years later, after leaving the org and changing to a better career, I was participating in a corporate training program, when the EXACT same demonstration was used to illustrate how time management works:
One demonstration that Covey likes to make is pouring sand into a jar. Then he holds up a few larger rocks and shows that there is no more room in the jar for the big rocks. First, you put the bigger, more important, rocks in the jar. Only then do you add whatever sand will fill in the space.
Similarly, most people live their lives not doing what is really most important to them, but rather they do whatever issue is pressing them the most at present. Often, upon reflection we see that the issues that are so strongly consuming our time do not warrent the large mental energy and time we devote to them. They are like the sand preventing us from focusing upon what is important to us.
The two above quotes were taken from:
http://www.bainvestor.com/SevenHabits.html
My corporate trainer gave credit to Steven Covey for the training concept. You already know that the Watchtower gave no credit to anyone for the illustration that they plagerized.
