Any suggestions for a 'quick' tour of Yellowstone National Park??
by AudeSapere in.
i know the park is huge and i won't have much time there, but in a couple of weeks i will have a day or a day and a half to explore this part of the country.. i will be busy at big sky resort for a few days and leaving from bozeman on tuesday.
that leaves all day monday and possibly part of sunday to explore.. does anyone have any suggestions for maximizing my free time in yellowstone?

Tough to get a handle on what there is to see and do without ever having been there before. Great suggestions so far. Keep them coming.

Oh yikes. I had not even thought of this. I guess if we go into the mud, we should be concerned. Anyone else have comments?

Cats and Dogs should not be spayed or neutered!
by IMHO ina controversial subject that hasn't been talked about here for 10 years (or so it seems on my quick search).. .
i think it's wrong to spay or neuter.
i bet most of you will disagree.. my vet just called me an irresponsible owner for refusing to have my cat spayed..

Thank you, Gander. I was trying to be clever but failed.

Fakesmile - Thanks for the valuable tip. That is top of my list. I think hantavirus is mostly being reported in Yosemite this year, though.

Ventura County, eastern end of the SantaMonica Mountains. FANTASTIC weather here. Maybe total of 15 days a year when it's really icky.

Still Thinking - LOL~! Yes. I purposefully said 'bison'. Picking up on that point in American history before men interfered. That time when the bison ran free, and so did the 'in tact' cats. Maybe I should have said buffalo?

Did they really 'get along fine', or were their numbers controlled by the wild? I would imagine that 400,000+ little kittens fed quite a few bison, bear, cougars and snakes.
This conversation reminds me of conversation with my JW mom when I was having my 2 boy kittens 'fixed'. She thought it was a waste of money since male cats can't have kittens.

I'm a stepmom to a little JW.... need advice...
by LKM ini am a new stepmom to an 8 year old boy whose mother is a jw pioneer.
my husband has been disfellowshipped for 2.5 years now.
i was part of the reason he left the organization for good, although he had stopped believing long before being kicked out.

I like this thread. Welcome LKM!
All valid points here. One thing to add may be: Expose him to a very wide variety of activities and locations. If you chose to acquiesce to his mother's team football ban, play it just the 3 of you in the park. Take dance lessons (from video??) and practice in the living room. Sing. Play/make music. Go for walks and hikes - without stopping to preach to everyone you see! Have neighbors over. Plant a little garden. Learn to play backgammon or chess. [Although the mom may object to chess. The WTS has had problems with it in the past. But give it a try anyway.]
In contrast, his JW community will likely only have 2 or 3 activites to do with him: Meetings, FieldService, DonutStop. Social activities will probably only happen 2-4 times per year.
The main thing is that by exposing him to an increasingly WIDE variety of activities (both mind and body), people (all ages - just like at the KingdomHall; AND seek out friends from school his own age), and belief systems, you will help prepare him to make his own decisions as he grows older - whether in or out of the JW 'cult'.
Looking forward to future posts from you.
