Are you eligible for disability? During my treatment I went on disability and reduced my work hours to what was more manageable for me. (I was eligible for full disability but opted to work some - it was important to me to feel like a contributing part of society. I think it also helped to have a reason to get up and out for something other than doctor appointments. I ended up using my 'full disability' as 'partial disability'. Financially I came out ahead because in California, Disability Payments are not taxed.)
Cancer treatment (chemo - and surgery!) is brutal on a body. Call your EDD/Disability Office and ask them about options that may be available to you.
I can't imagine having to look after someone else during treatment. I was extremely fortunate to have someone (actually two people - boyfriend and my sister) who took care of much for me. I did my own laundry and fixed simple meals for myself. But on my chemo days and the 2 days that followed, I was 'out of commission' (near comatose for 36 hours each session) and they took care of everything for me (although all I needed/wanted was a little water in a bottle with a sippy nipple [gerbel drip] and a nice hearty dinner when I woke up two days later.
My sister started to light into me one afternoon because I didn't have the energy to do something. (I forget what it was.) She started to yell a little and I stopped her dead in her tracks when I responded with: OK. Next time we go see Dr Masterson, YOU hop up in the chemo chair and then we can have this discussion.
She backed off and got the point.
Find time each day for something that you enjoy. Make it a PRIORITY to enjoy each day. I found it helpful to also plan something fun for the days when I knew I would have a little more energy. It gave me something pleasant to talk and think about.
Try to keep your thoughts as positive as possible. I truly believe it makes a world of difference in your treatment.
{{{{hambeak}}}} My best thoughts are with you.

by hambeak ini am angry because my adult children who are active jw's think i should be dead or suffer for not being a witness and i supported them comfortably and they shunned me and show hate i am sad and probably won't do the chemo thing and just let nature take its course.

i am taking pain meds so this is probably messed up with my message help.

Chemo's a bitch. And apparently so are you kids (under cult-control).
But chemo can fix the cancer and I know you have other things in your live now and in the future that you do and will enjoy.
If we're voting, I vote for chemo. I've been in your spot.
In fact, I had a good and honest talk with my oncologist before committing to treatment. I didn't realize that I had been in a cult at the time but I was terribly depressed and family relations were strained. Somehow I thought I was the problem and I really wasn't interested in going thru all the hassle and expense of treatment to buy myself another 37 years.
I'm glad I went through with the plan. I'm MUCH happier now.
PM me if you want to talk more about this.

What's your present belief ?
by JH in.
without attacking anyone for their beliefs, feel free to state what you believe in right now.. personally, i still believe in a higher power, a creator, call him jehovah if you wish, a god that will put things back right eventually.

Oh god this stinks
by restrangled in.
my son just informed me that his grandfather left him and his brother, (his only grandsons) , money for their education.. i had no idea, of the amount but it did make sense to me...a suposed $50,000.00 but the will was on a small personal computer and promptly erased by someone in my mom's kh at her request.. she has in the mean time shunned me, and low and behold sent $200,000.00 to the society.
this tires me beyond belief.. thanks for listneing....i am feeling crazy!.

I'm not clear...
Did the boys get any money for their education or was everything sent to the society?

I worked with someone who named his son:
J Dillman
The 'J' stood for nothing. "J" was his name. Their last name was Dillman.

A friend of mine has an expensive cat with the hitler markings.
I'm sure it's a sweet pet but I just can't get past that little mustache. It freaks me out so I keep my distance. (Maybe I'm weird. Probably am...)

Ever know anyone killed by a drunk driver?
by free2beme inoften people i work with will mention how they, or someone they knew, drove when they had been drinking.
although they make light of it, because they lived and no one got hurt, they seem to develop a braver and more confident ability in their driving while intoxicated and seem to think the law is not for them.
i personally, hate to hear about this and this is why.. a good friend of our family, a non witness that we grew up with.

PS to my post above...
The mom was critically injured in the accident and the other son (about 12 at the time) was not injured at all - he was wearing his seatbelt - while his younger brother was not belted in.
For 3 decades I've used 'Ricky' as an example for kids to stay seated and properly belted in.
Last I heard, the surviving son is serving in Brooklyn - possibly in the Service Dept.
