I wholeheartedly agree. There were a few single dad's who introduced me to their kids after just one or two dates. I was not comfortable at all with this.

does anyone know the words used by the jws at baptism?..i know that matt:28 tells us of being baptised in the name of the father the son and the holy ghost, and have heard that jws actually pledge "allegiance" to the watchtower at baptism which i find crazy..is this true?.

my jw 86yr old dad spoke to me today and began telling me about the wonderful tract!!
i tried not to say much(but of course i had to) and tried to just listen.
I wondered if these poor little JW kids are also going to be out on the streets at the same time as the trick or treaters.
Trick-or-Treat is at night - on Tuesday. Most of the JW kids will be attending their meeting that night.

I dated a man who had primary custody of his kids since they were 2 and 6. It raised my estimation of him as a person.
Their mom maintained joint legal custody but saw them about one weekend a month. They lived 15 miles away.
When we first started dating, though, we had a conversation about women's perception of 'single dads'. He was reluctant to let woman know because he was concerned that they would think he was a jerk - taking their mother to court and getting the kids to spite her.
The thought never crossed my mind at all.
Funny, I seem to have more respect for single dad's than for single mom's. (Hmmm )

my jw roommate and i were watching boston legal the other night and one case was about someone being fired for their religious beliefs.
when one of the lawyers was talking to the jury, he mentioned many religions and the odd, quirky things about them.
he did mention that if you were a jehovah's witness you couldn't buy girl scout cookies.
They are three times as good straight from the freezer whrn you find them after forgetting you had any!
Until mom finds you eating HER cookies...!
They really are that good.

came home to find some non-prophet litter-at-ya inside the house, shoved through a wee gap in the door.. it's like they just entered uninvited as they pleased for themselves - i wonder if i have grounds for legal complaint for such rudeness and contempt of other people's privacy.. maybe we could shove propaganda through the door down at their hall .

I took this to mean between the door and the frame. So it's not even a real slot intended to pass things through. This would not fall under any postal code.
Would it be a cross between Littering, UnAuthorized Entry, and PeepingTom???
I remember carefully slipping leaflets thru the side of the door like this and pushing it through so it could not been seen from the outside.
It would bother me if someone did this at my front door. It sort of bothered me back then, too.

I was told that the Scouts were too patriotic and we did not support their fund-raising efforts due to the neutrality issue. Somehow I seem to recall a connection to military-like training, too.
I was a 9-year-old Girl Scout when my parents started studying. My troop (a military term) met Thursday afternoons. There was a misunderstanding in the car on the way to the KingdomHall one Thursday evening and my dad thought I was still in my Scout Uniform (another military reference). I was actually in meeting clothes, but he misunderstood for a few seconds. I remember an argument and that was my last Scout meeting.
My mom continued to buy ThinMints on the sly and would hide them all the way in the back of the freezer.
