Truthsearcher - I would love to see your post here sent to the society and to any witness family facing this trauma.
I firmly believe it is criminal emotional abuse to disfellowship minor children and abuse of power to strongarm jw parents into complying with these dictates of the WTS. It's horrible to break up families like this whether the 'children' are minors or living on their own.
I hope your experience (which I believe to be the most loving and beneficial method) can be share with more JWs especially as this magazine sits in their homes.

Lots of ice cream for you this weekend...~!
Keep your mouth cold to help stop the oozing and reduce the swelling.
No Straws.
Sleep with an old towel under your head (in case you drool a little, you don't want to stain your pillow/case).
Feel Better!! Those teeth will never bother you again.

if you got fired from your job, what would you do first?
live off your savings?
sell your house?

Sorry but I don't think 'God' is the one to thank - if you have a highly required/regarded profession, it's most likely because you got an education. Thank the people who encouraged you and made that possible.

I was surprised to learn that for the last several years, at least in California, there is no more 'pre-existing condition' clause in insurance policies - especially group insurance policies provided by employers. Before resigning yourself to a life and location that you are not happy with, make a few calls. Employment Development Department in the state you would like to move to may be a good start. Also, try the Insurance Commissioners office and Employment Agencies as well. I don't know if it's just a California thing or if it's a nationwide situation. You may not have the hindrances you think you do.
VirgoChik: I think you told me what industry you are in. If that's true, I have two friends that worked there for many years. About 4 years ago they each left and they have much less stress than ever. One has an entirely new career which she loves and the other works at a simple job that she enjoys and with incredibly nice, supportive, appreciative people.
If you really think you are in danger of losing your job, you may want to start working with a career counselor or at least an employment agency to assess your skills and get your resume in order. You may consider taking a class or two to brush up or learn new skills that will help make you more marketable.
I would not recommend using up your savings. I did that. Quit my job while depressed and no desire to look for work. When the savings was nearly gone I started working at temp jobs. 7 months later I applied for and got a full-time position and tried to start re-building my savings and get my life back on track. Within a year I had a cancer diagnosis and was in treatment for 2 years while trying to work and hold on to the little job I had. Point being: Don't tap into the savings until you really *have* to. Save it for true emergencies. If you find yourself out of work, even a temp job can help you meet expenses until you find regular employment.
I truly hope things work out in your favor - whichever way that is. Sometimes a forced change is the best thing that can happen to a person.

AK - Jeff: Thanks for the compliments. I really like my screen name, too and was thrilled to have found one that was so appropriate for this forum. 'Dare to Know; Dare to Have Wisdom/Understanding' 'Dare to Think for Yourself.' It was so daring for me to join that I *still* get sweaty palms when I think back to that day!! There is a core group of people who I regularly follow. You are part of that group. Thanks for being here.
Ozziepost: I don't see you here too often anymore. How have you been?? I liked my old account, too and which I could have maintained it to see a more fluid transition.
Megsmomma: Your last post made me smile! A bike that is too big is just too dangerous for a newbie!! I took a motorcycle riders safety class last summer (part of a birthday present to my self - the bike was the other part). Couple weeks later when I bought my bike, I specifically looked for a bike where I could reach the ground with both feet. I'm only 5'2" so not too many choices there without having to make more modifications (new seat, etc). And I really didn't want anything too heavy. It's more important that I take the bike for a ride rather than the other way around...! This has turned out to be just the perfect starter bike. My preference is still to ride passenger - like you said, that feeling of just being freeee! Back of a bike is about the only place where I feel I fully give up all control and just enjoy the ride. But it's been alot of fun having and riding my own. Completely different experience, with a very different sense of freedom. I don't think I'd do it if I had young children, though.

megsmomma - Oh yes! My bike - another change I made as JWD helped me see the importance of really getting on with my life and doing things I had always just mused about. I have a Yamaha Virago 535. It's an '83. I bought an older, used bike so I test out whether I would like being the 'rider'. I've always enjoyed being on the back - but actually riding the bike is a completely different experience.
Do you ride?
