What was the funniest thing you read on JWD last year?

hey, i've been looking into setting up an ex-jw meetup group on meetup.com.

according to their site, there is already 29 people within one hundred miles of rochester who have signed up to the site saying they would be interested in a meetup.

the problem is it cotst either: $19.00 for one month, $45.00 for three months, or $72.00 for six months.

If it was me, I'd be tempted to pay for just one month and then contact and network with everyone real hard that month. You can gage the interest from there.
Just a thought. I hope you get lots of reponses. I love the groups I've attended.

WHO'S 40 OR NEARLY 40!!!!!

hi everybody and happy new year.

2007 is the year i turn 40, in fact in exactly one month's time to be precise.. i've noted that a lot of people on jwd are a similar age to me.

i think it's because it takes us this long to pluck up the courage to finally leave the borg.. i need to know how turning 40 makes you feel.

I'm 46. 39 was the difficult age for me. The worst was 29, but 39 was the next hardest.
For my 40th birthday and everyone since then, I celebrate in my own special way. I do something very out-of-the ordinary and it becomes incredibly life-affirming for me. One year it was sky-diving. Another year I took a motorcycle safety class and bought myself a motorcycle.
It started with an exotic sushi selection at a beach side restaurant in Ventura at midnight and took off from there.
This year I considered a tatoo, permanent makeup, nude sunbathing. I really wanted to do a long motorcycle ride for the weekend but was injured a few months earlier and was grounded for a few months. I ended up with dinner out with 3 friends and then of to the driving range at the golf course near my new home. We were terrible but had a great time. The golf lessons (which was the real gift to myself and amongst my 3 friends) were postponed and will begin this month (January '07) - we hope.

I have a friend that goes out of state to a spa every year with 5 friends. They've done that for about 12 years running.
While a spa trip sounds great, I am really enjoying the 'new experience' for my birthday gift to myself. It's nearly time to start thinking about what I want to do this year...

Stevie Wonder has a JW connection. (His brother has a child with a witness-?? Something like that)
James Ingram's brother Phil is (or was) a witness. We went to pioneer school together.

OMG!
No sooner did I hit the 'send' button on that post and I got a call from my guy.
Daughter is spending the night with her grandparents and I now have an incredibly HOT date with a totally cute guy.

Sounds fun. Have a great time.
I'm going to dinner with some old friends of mine (neighbors for 18 years).
I have a good story of meeting a guy earlier this month. His daughter is with him this week and we are too 'new' in this *thing* that we have so I'm on my own - more or less.
