i have recently been playing a number of interesting boardgames, most often agricola although le havre, pandemic, ticket to ride, carcassonne and space hulk have been popular too.. there are some very interesting card games out as well such as dominion and race for the galaxy.. i am looking forward to playing the great fire of london and merchants & marauders whenever i can get hold of them.. i particularly like agricola because it isn't very confrontational as a game, obviously there is a winner but you can have fun playing even if you come last.
some games you only win by destroying the other players ability to do anything interesting when playing the game, risk or monopoly for example.
anybody else have any particular favourite boardgame?

well, i'm outta here.
i initially started researching jehovah's witnesses because my wife has been studying with them so i can't digest anymore of the religious hate i'm reading here.
i was shown this by someone here and told i needed to protect my wife:.
I agree with everyone on this thread. The opening post by 'spade' was very confusing. It seemed like he was leaving JWN because he felt that sixscreens - a complete different website - promoted religious hate.
It was a confusing presentation and not quickly sorted out.
I also find sixscreens offensive and inflamatory. Extremely off-putting to me.
jwfacts seems much more thoughfully prepared and easier to follow.
Spade wrote: The above site bothered me. Someone here linked me to the above site. Extreme beliefs in people that control other people's minds.
I guess that means that you will still read and post here with us on JWN.
I'm glad to hear that.

i have a freind who is a great cook and loves to cook for freinds at his house.
the trouble is: he is not a great cleaner!.
the result being that the dinner table is caked with dryed on food, the plates and cutlery the same.
AND I actually agree with MadSweeny.

Or invite him to your house to teach *you* how to cook.

Invite him to cook at your house and insist he wash his hands with hot, soapy water.

in case anyone's interested but unaware of my family's case up to this point, here's the original thread:.

so the elders requested a follow-up meeting last week but we were unable to meet at their set time and told them as much.
IMHO, keep it concise. Just list a handful of big reasons why you can no longer be a JW rather than a multi page diatribe against the WT.
Sure, the later might feel better but it is less likely to get read or well received compared to a five point bulleted list of major failings of the borg.
Short and sweet with bullet points may catch more attention than a full-page 'manifesto' or even memo. Bullet points sort of jump off that page and, if concisely worded, can sear the readers conscious and sub-conscious. For those that want to know more, have a link cited to where they can read the full memo/manifesto.
Just a suggestion.

had my ca last weekend.
it was interesting, here what i got out of it, without giving spoilers, because i know they are not all the same.
but it seems to me, that due to the new understandings a lot of friends are letting their guard down.possibly thinking, "well, if they change in doctrine once, who knows they might change again".
Hey Purps - I've lost track of people's stories here, but please clarify for me... Is this a comment that you received from an active JW, or is this your own personal comment??
Hope all is well with you.

so far i've managed to avoid speaking to the elders who drop by.
just wondering if they'll eventually give up in a couple years.
anyone have experience with this?.
So it *can* be done, but I'm guessing that most of those in who have done so do not decorate for the holidays.
I would imagine that decorating would send out a signal to the congregation and become grounds for Disassociation. No?

i don't know why i'm telling you all this, but i broke down in tears today.. .
i went to my grandma and grandpa's today just to visit.. most of my early memories are being with my grandma out in service while my mom was off to work.. .
i looked at her today.
I just feel like she's been lied to for so long. How do you tell someone that.
Sometimes it's best to not say anything. Just love her and assure her that you are doing things that please God.
Spend quality time with her. Build fun memories. Be happy and be happy with her.
Yes, it's sad. But it is the life she chose. Now is not the time to criticize her for it or to push her to see something that she does not need or want to see.
