Maybe. But maybe not. A beard in and of itself does not necessarily measure JW-style spirituality in UK and Europe as it does in USA.
This was discussed in a thread about the film 'To Verdener'.

Any update?
a friend of mine is the tasting room manager at a local vineyard.
this weekend the vineyard hosted an anniversary party for a my-gosh-they-are-so-young-for-having-been-married-for-so-long couple.
while cleaning up after the party, the employees found numerous pieces of literature hidden in their magazine racks, and the 3-dvd set, "the bible - a book of fact & prophecy" hidden among their cds.
Unbelievable.
But completely believable - all at the same time.

I just called them and the call went straight to voicemail.
If I get return call, I will post you y'all. But I'm on my way out so will not have computer/internet connection until I get back later this evening.

don't tell my girlfriend.
secretly, i've had feelings for a person she doesn't know about.
we've been seeing each other for the past 3 months, and so far, he's been the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Noone is saying that. What *is* being said is: Clean up one mess before creating another. In other words, first end things with the girlfriend. THEN start a new relationship.
Somewhere deep in your heart, I think you know that.

these two comments are from a jw message board.
the comments were to an article posted about the uprising in greece.. .
this is so sad, but you no we are very, very, very close to the end of this system.i am so glad because i hate this system and satan along with it.
I don't think I ever thought about having fun at the destruction. Maybe a just a tad towards those that I thought were singling me out for persecution because of my beliefs.
But isn't there a scripture about Jehovah *not* taking delight in the destruction of someone wicked???

as my journey to leave the wbts was in its infancy i was speaking to an old friend who had always been a surrogate mom to me.
i had pioneered with both her sons (one of which is now an elder, the other is gay).
i was addressing some of my concerns re: the wts.
The organization fraudulently purported themselves to be something they are not: Sole spokesmen for God.
Also, depending on when you were baptized, the questions have likely changed. My baptism there was no mention of 'organization'. I think it was a question about having 'repented' and another about dedicating myself to Jehovah. Nothing remotely about recognizing the GB as essential substitutes for Jesus and/or Jehovah.
Also, in my case, I was 13. Unfortunately, though, because I stayed with them into my 30's, I suspect that by my actions of staying in the org, I showed my acceptance of the conditions of my 'contract' through *all* the changes they made.
Until I got up and walked out of the Hall one day.

that's the amazon link (which is currently the most affordable, i believe, but it's also available for preorder at b&n, borders, indiebound, and indigo-chapters if you're in canada, if you prefer one of those retailers).. .
Congrats, Brizzzy~!! How exciting!!

our friend living the dream has written a wealth of his experiences when at bethel -- all of them well told.
i had a bit of spare time tonight and decided i would search for the ones i missed.
well, google doesn't cut it.
I like this series ALOT. For me, it has been soo refreshing to hear someone's memories that are just interesting memories that we can all easily relate to. No ill-will. No anomosity. No 'Evil GB'. No serious bashing of past or present JW (well, maybe there was one - but that just adds to the credibility!).
I think the writer neutralizes some of my own memories and that allows me to put things in better perspective and heal without completely villifying the people who played such a big part in my life for 25 years.
I would really, really like to hear about his own 'awakening' and how he managed to set aside his own 'cultic' (??) upbringing, rise above it, and create a happy, productive, professionally-successful life without anger and resentment.
I bet that would be an interesting tale as well.
And a good example for most of us.
I know he's mostly using this site as a place to 'park' his story. Hopefully he's finding the process as rewarding as we do!
