  On "The New System"

  "you can live forever in a paradise on earth".

  in my years as a witness and even after, i've thought about "the new system" and everything i was taught.. during the thousand years, there would be millions coming back from the dead.

  during that time we'd all learn one single language and reach perfect physical health.

  ***In a way, the teachings of Jehovahs Witnesses END at Armageddon. They really hold out nothing concrete about the New System except for living forever in a paradise. And that eternal life seems to be merely a primitive agricultural civilization of Jehovah's Witnesses lacking only door-to-door work.***

  Hell Mike, it's the lacking of door to door work that gets em' so excited about Paradise in the first place! You and I can sympathize, eh?

  Armageddon is the 'boogyman' of Jwland. They live with the same mentality we Americans did shortly after the A bomb appeared. Bomb-shelter's, survival procedures, alerts, and all sorts of paranouia. I remember as a kid, when hearing those loud 'sirens'...the feeling's were very similar to those I had looking at the pictures in book's like Paradise Lost Paradise Regained....with bombs falling, streets cracking open, building's falling...it created the same angst that those siren's did. Oh and throwing money in the streets...that one I thought to be kinda cool.

  Your observations were right on, they (jw's) live and breath Armageddon. Even if they don't fess up to it, every move they make, is based on the imminent arrival of 'death and destruction' for 6 billion of their fellow humans. They just try and wrap the message of this 'doomsaying' in a little pretty bow of 'most loving people on earth'(not), cleanest religious organization(false), they are simply another fundy group of fanatics who are proclaiming the tiresome 'do it our way, or our God will kill you'.

  To DannyBear on cooking

  hey danny i just wanted to mention not to use more than about 2 tablespoons of chivas for a big dish like a roast or brisket and for steaks, keep it to 1 teaspoon per steak.. right now, i'm learning how to cook beef brisket.

  cooking one tonight i've been marinading since friday night.

  i've been told you can marinade one in beer but haven't tried it yet.. mike.. expect nothing and you will never be disappointed,

  Tastes like chicken. Yes I have both canned and fresh.

  We live in rattelsnake country. Every year between May-Sept. several babies make their way into(garage) or around my house. We try and keep the chapparal trimed back at least 50' from the house. All the homesites here are 2-5 acres, with more and more building going on all the time, we see less and less snakes. The deer and fox are still around though.

  Fishing seemed to be one of the favorite passtimes in Ga. I liked going out to the man made ponds (often lake size) and privately stocked with 'cats'....we made many a pioneer meal on catfish and corn 'puppies' or was it 'doggies'..memory is the first to go you know.

  Hey Bendrr, was never really overly concerned about rattlesnakes while in Ga.....but those 'water moccasines' were scary, when wading around the edges of those ponds.

  Have fun fishing brother. I will give the sauerkraut and pork a try.

  Gleaning at Bethel

  want to see bethelites act like greedy scavengers?

  just check out the tail end of bethel family breakfast, lunch or dinners.

  for those not familar with this phenomenon, gleaning was when bethelites could basically bring their tupperware dishes down and store up on the leftover meals once the family was dismissed (usually by prayer, except for the bethel dinner).

  Max,

  Knorr was one snotty sonofabitch wasn't he? He just litteraly wreaked of pompus stufft shirt. I used to liken him to Lee IoCocca (sp?) only with an ego. He seemed to get worse as he got older. The last time I talked to him, was at the newly completed assembly hall in the San Fernando Valley. There was a private room for vip's and he was hob-nobbin with all the elites. Several brother's asked to see him, but like the celebrity he considered himself, told them he just didn't have time. Brush you off like you were some kinda fly on his chin.

  Not as bad as the snarling Judge, but a real prick in every sense of the word.

  So sorry your wife was on the receiving end of his tortured whip.

  a friend lost

  on thursday, the 21st, i lost a dear friend.. he was an older man, some 25 years older than me.

  he was not a dub.

  we became friends over 10 years ago because of a mutual hobby, that of ham radio, or amateur radio if you prefer.

  Sorry for your loss of a good friend. They are to precious and to few.

  One thing for sure, you can be proud of the way you supported that friend. Even if you were the only one, he had something from you that absolutly made his final days alot easier...I've spent enough time around hospitals to know, many die alone with no one mourning the loss.

  It just so happens, I know that one. (Iam such a bitch)

  You'er right the simple ways are often the best. Rosemary is really good on lamb to. I take whole twigs, along with garlic bulbs and scatter them in the charcoal...it seems to add more of the flavor. I also learned a trick with Rosemary twigs at the last ranch bbq we went to. Tie a bundel of the twigs onto the end of a branch or broom handel (broom style) and then use the Rosemary broom to brush bbq sauce on the grilling meat. Works great.

  Hello Bendrr,

  Thanks for the receipe tip....without which I would have probably have added, like I do wine...8oz for the receipe and 8oz for me!!!Slurrrp.

  Do that with the Chivas and I may never get to the actual grillin part.

  I have used beer in deep-fry batter, but never tried using it in a marinade.

  Hey buddy, I hope the roast turned out great this evening.

  Once again glad to have you around this wild and crazy, sometimes pretty wacky place.

  i dont know if some of you remember but about 8 months ago i recieved a telephone call from the luvvin bruvvers and they wanted to talk to me re my "apostate" veiws.

  i told them that i would take legal action against them and to only contact me through letter.

  i recieved this today.

  You probably didn't create a big fuss when you left. So they have no reason to want 'theocratic revenge', if anything gets to one of these 'spiritual policeman'it is when they can't close the case file on a notorious offender. Damn they hate that...no skanky judicial hearing with all it's inherant pompus posturing, and then the almost sadistical orgasmic conclusion 'Disfellowshiping', is a real 'high' for these 'enforcer's'.

  Iam always so pleased when someone just ignores them. It is the worst kinda of torture you can inflict on em. They get so bored with all the r&f butt kisser's, to able to crucify a defector, that is 'theocratic warfare' at its finest.

  When you are so devoted to the 'company', coupled with all the perks you derive....complete strangers hanging on your every word, getting little envelopes of (undeclared JT) income, free vacations, new cars, and real power over others lives, it is damn difficult to exercise 'common sense', even if you have some.

  The Power of the Human Spirit

  i have read many accounts of human tragedy on this board.

  i have also read the recovery that people have experienced once they got out from under the oppressive and destructive world that was the watchtower.

  i find it amazing that when people receive a modicum of a healthy environment how they are able to heal, sometimes quickly and sometimes more slowly, but the progress is there.

  I will add even one more caviat to all this recent fighting: 'making up'. Simply stated the real empathy and concern for one another is given an opportunity to shine. I have witnessed today, such things happening on the 'asshole wars' thread. It just goes to show almost without exception, people are basically good, caring and sensitive. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our own little world's, it takes some confrontation to awaken us to our neglect or lack of feeling.

  Speaking of which, my lady will soon be gettin all over this Bearass for spending so much time with all you lovely louts, so I may have to take my own advice and go do the 'honey do lists'.

  TRIBUTE to a CIRCUIT OVERSEER

  over the years, circuit servants and then circuit overseers came and went.

  i can only recall a handfull because the rest were unimpressive or i was not real active during the visit of some.

  most cos that i recall were humdrum with perhaps some single interesting feature or personality quirk.
