Are people taking this man seriously?
He looks genuinely mentally ill.

i'm feeling very angry tonight as i watched my mother in law end her relationship with my husband, her son, tonight.
we were happily inactive, enjoying a distant but decent relationship with my in laws until they saw some christmas decorations and everything changed.
i spent two hours getting drilled on whether my husband and i celebrate holidays, to be told that my laws won't socialize with us anymore.
Weirdo freak shows.
'no natural affection'
jws re-name things so they seem like they are different than other religions.
(of course we know they are different but that's another story).
i was just thinking about those things where they are like most everyone else in christendom but the re-name it to seem different.. for example god forbid they have a church, it's a "kingdom hall".. they don't have pastors and deacons they have "elders" and "ministerial servants".. they don't have tithing but they will have family heads fill out a paper saying how much they can contribute on a monthly basis (not sure if there is a name for that...unless it's tithing.
Not a pope but an octopope.
Laughed when I heard that.
even thinking about born-ins here.
at what stage of your 'bible teaching' were you taught about the practice of disfellowshipping?.
reading john cedars book and the section about when the more crazy shit gets introduced to you is very telling.

Reading John Cedars book and the section about when the more crazy shit gets introduced to you is very telling. The theory is that you will be taught all the nice panda/paradise/resurrection stuff first and THEN after a long period of initial teaching, you will receive the more extreme doctrines.
Having thought about this over the years, it completely resonates. I recall it being very late in the day that I was taught about shunning. Even then, I didn't in any way understand just how cruel it actually is because the way it's taught to a 'bible student' is so soft soaped and watered down. Almost skimmed over.
So, how about you? And at what point is the doctrine of disfellowshipping introduced in the current JW bible study publication? Is there any material about the practice of shunning on jw.org?
Any input is very much appreciated.
alone, without my safety net of "god" being there to remember me when i die.
after much consideration, examining science, history and using logic, i have come to the conclusion that there is no "god" at least certainly no loving, personal "god.
" shortly before my final conclusion was reached, i read an excerpt from an expression attributed to marcus aurelius, .
Why does one have to exist with any belief?
I believe in what I am sure of. This enables me to try to do things that bring positive results for me and those I know & wider society. I'm not throwing my hands in the air and expecting or waiting for someone else to affect my life for the better. It comes down to me.
Belief in the JW god disempowers a person.
my girlfriend and i were walking along a seaside boulevard and lo and behold!
2 jws were standing by the pathway.
they made eye contact and said hello.
It must be great not to have to go to peoples doors and explain their bat shit crazy, out of touch beliefs.
i would like to have your opinion on something if you don't mind.
my girlfriends dog, a scottish terrier, is a wonderful lovable dog about fiveyears old.
my girlfriend owns a hair salon and takes her dog with her and the dog greets clients very lovingly.
If it's a Scottish terrier, it's pronounced 'dug'
i've heard many experiences about how jehovah answers the prayers of jw's - convention items about pioneers gas bills, car repairs, job opportunities.
now, if this is true, you are actually stating that god has directly intervened in your life.
taken action on your behalf.
JW's will readily tell you that people without faith are egotistical and selfish but how much more egocentric and self centred is it to claim that the creator of the universe is intervening in your daily life.
Similar to prayers at meal times - "thank you for providing this food especially considering you've left millions in dire poverty".
Crazy logic.

At the same time, he ignores the desperate prayers of abused children the world over for their abuse to stop.
How can you imply this and expect people to take you seriously?
this photo is doing the rounds on jw inspirational on instagram.
although the brothers and sisters think this is "oh so amazing" and "so cool" it's actually very sad and quite shocking.
what, people cant even enjoy their wedding day without the cult invading their special day.
Crazy bastards.
