The false pride of a "Window Washer"
by LDH inback when my sister and i were regular pioneers in the late 80's, there were many things that caught my ear.
i don't usually make an effort to remember them, but i did yesterday.. i was sitting at a red light yesterday.
i happened to look to the right and i saw a middle aged black man washing the windows at the strip mall......... ken and debbie mccarthy were two regular pioneers in our congregation.

This isn't a thread about whether 'cleaners' are gainfully employed.
Sure, I understand.
It seems the guy feels he was 'chosen' into the profession to give some sort of witness. - I agree, flawed thinking.
I actually know a few elders who are on a bit and they seem to resent those who go to uni. I think they have genuinely felt that they gave it all up for good reason when they were young. However, the promised reward has`nt came and I think they are looking back thinking "I could have been something in life" or at least, done a better job for the past 40 years.
Shame I suppose.

Latest "Remeber When..." JW email floating around
by Jourles innotice how #29 sounds a little apostatish?
shame on them for slipping that one in.. remembering when .
.. 1. when there was a grading system on the written review to indicate how well you did.. 2. when the circuit overseer considered the "continue in the things learned.".

CO discusses: Higher Education, Baptism Nullification, No Sense of Urgency
by doinmypart inhere are my notes from the biannual co visit.
the notes are from the co meeting with elders & ms 2006 service year outline.
the topics from wts are sense of urgency, higher education, independent thinking, marital arrg, invalid baptisms.. sense of urgency - concern among fds that some are losing their urgency, they don't believe we're in the last days.

I have notes from my last co meeting.
In the section on higher education I have noted - 'Dangers in leaving the secure environment of the home, cong & spiritual friends'. SCAREMONGERS!!
This btw, was nothing compared to the stuff we got at the KM school just a few weeks later. A talk - 'the superiority of divine education' - it had a bro up saying how he had a university education but ALWAYS found the publications of WTS to be faaaaar more reliable than such flawed, worldly stuff. Is it just me or is this a lot of shoite? - The guy was just up there punting the 'official party line'.
Interesting that they gave this to m/s as well as elders. - Both a warning not to consider uni & amunition to beat the r/f, if it ever comes up in conversation.
Glad it was my last meetings.

'PROPER' dress code for kids at the KH
by jambon1 inspeaking to a sister while i was in, she mentioned to me some trouble she was having trying to get her young daughter into a skirt for the meetings.
to cut a long story short, the girl just did`nt like skirts.
simple as that.

Speaking to a sister while I was in, she mentioned to me some trouble she was having trying to get her young daughter into a skirt for the meetings. To cut a long story short, the girl just did`nt like skirts. Simple as that.
The sister was telling me that she battled with the daughter for ages and it made meeting nights dreaded & wearisome to the entire family. She gave up eventually but then went on to highlight the problems with people looking down on the family because of this, like, some would be stumbled.
Anyway, this sister just looked so tired/weary/fed up as she was telling me the story.
Just goes to show the pressure people are under due to such stupid, unnecessary rules (oops, sorry, dress code)

As a JW how do/did you feel about 6 billion people being destroyed?
by jwfacts inhow else can a person justify that jehovah will destroy 6 billion people, innocent children included?
i could never accept that i deserved salvation whereas almost no one else did.
it put me on permanent spiritual edge because i thought the slave is right so the doctrine of destruction must be, but my heart always knew it was wrong.

As some others have possibly said (if not in this thread but I have seen it in others), to accept this doctrine you have to distance everyone who is not a JW. You have to do this mentally, like, make up some reason that justifies the deaths of all the really nice people that you meet in life. You maybe tell yourself they are getting up to all sorts of BAD stuff behind the screen of niceness. The only thing is,..........many of JW`s are doing just that, but they will be saved!
This doctrine screwed up my mind for 10 years. Now I`m so glad to be free of it all.
Ultimately people dont deserve such a fate .
