Barf! Puke! Ugh!!
by Frequent_Fader_Miles infacebook's all you ever wanted to know about the bountiful blessings awaiting faithful ones in jah's new order!
check out these comparisons with satan's filthy world ..... the new system verses what saten 's system has to offer:.
saten's system: unequilty, there are thousands of imigrants, but its not their fault, the country does not supply food for them because they are using the money to fight their war's instead of bringing enough food into the country and supplying jobs for them.. .

Study what's practical, or study what interests me
by DanTheMan ini'm at a bit of a crossroads.. .
in 2007, i received an associate of arts degree from a local community college.
i never really concentrated on any one particular area of study, and so i have a pretty broad range of coursework under my belt.. .

Who are you, thanks, I'll check those forums out. I'm a little leery of online degrees, but it seems to be the thing anymore. Kids these days.

I'm at a bit of a crossroads.
In 2007, I received an associate of arts degree from a local community college. I never really concentrated on any one particular area of study, and so I have a pretty broad range of coursework under my belt.
Until recently, my plan was to pursue a bachelors degree in IT or Business from a local business college. But, I recently learned that I can earn a BA in psychology or sociology from a very respected local university (not the business college) in about the same amount of time as it would take to earn the IT degree.
I have always had a strong interest in psychology - more so than in computers or business, although I wouldn't say that the latter two subjects don't interest me at all, just not as much. I'm pretty flexible really - I've always done well in just about every subject.
But here's the thing - we all know that a BA in psychology has little practical value in the real world. BUT -- and I know this is probably getting uninteresting pretty fast here, so thanks for reading this far -- the same community college that awarded me the AA degree offers a post-bac accounting study program, where you can come into it with a bachelors degree in whatever, and in just over a year you can complete the study program, and it's designed so that once you have completed it, you are qualified to sit for the State CPA license exam.
So, here's what I'm thinking - complete the degree in psych (what interests me) and then do the accounting thing (what's practical) on top. Is that too weird of an educational route? Do you think future employers would be like "huh? You got a BA in psych and then went and got your CPA license??" -

Another push to make US use %@#* $1.00 coins
by Gregor inthe gov't has been trying to get us to use these clunkers for years.
i think this is the third try in the last 20 yrs.
this time they are so desperate they are putting out ps spots talking about how much this will save the gov't (as we all know the gov't is always looking for ways to save money) and that, of all things, it is a green thing to do.... most men carry their money in their pockets/wallet.

I've never seen a vending machine that takes dollar coins either. I'm so mad that they're taking my freedom away like this.

by booby infrom a yahoo e-mail group
as we start the new book in our book study i am already missing the exciting time we had studying the revelation book.
though many in our bookstudy who were studying for the first time found it tough in the start, our book study overseer made it very easy.

Maybe in addition to the charts, they can rent a few trumpets to pass around, and right as they are getting ready to cover the portion of the book dealing with the Cedar Point conventions, they can do a three-count and BLAST the trumpets in unison. Glory!

Awake quotes Forrest Gump!!
by dinah injust got a september '08 awake in my paws.. the cover asks "is there life beyond the grave".
they have a quote from forrest gump (of course he wasn't mentioned by name but i've seen the movie a million times).
it says roughly: in a movie a young man is shown standing by his mother's grave.

I guess making a reference to a 14 year-old movie is what qualifies as being "hip" and "with it" in the Writing Dept. LOL

"Only active "jw's will survive armageddon"....a list please.......
by oompa ini find it interesting that jw's so often think they are in full harmony with all wt teachings, but in reality, they have softend a tough jw position in there own mind.
for instance, a close jw friend of mine....my age....actually told me he did not think wt ever said that only jw's will survive armageddon!!!!
of course this is because he does not want to think of billions of good decent people that are not dubs dying....i believed that way....and my elder dad does too.

I'm plagiarizing a previous post of mine here but I thought it was relevant to the topic and I think that the following is a great example to demonstrate that, while the WT publications never explicitly say "everybody except JW's is gonna get wacked", this teaching can nevertheless can be clearly inferred from what they do say.
WT 7/18/08 page 20 paragraph 18:
Literally millions of symbolic fish from the sea of humanity have been attracted to Jehovah's congregation in modern times. Some attend the Memorial, others come to our meetings, and others are happy to study the Bible. But do all of these prove to be geniune Christians? They may be "hauled up onto the beach," but Jesus tells us that only "the fine ones" are gathered into vessels, which represent Christian congregations. The unsuitable are thrown away, eventually to be cast into a symbolic fiery furnace".Now just think about what is being said here. The paragraph is referring to the millions of people who express some interest in JWism at some point in their lives, but even among these a great number are found to be "unsuitable".
So, if even memorial hangers-on, on-and-off studiers, and other such sorta-JW's are to be "cast into the symbolic fiery furnace", where does this leave the billions who never take any interest at all in JWism? -

Here is what I do....... I go to the school library and check out one of the books (ususally a 2 hour limit) I will be using next semsester. Scan it into PDF, OCR it and return for the next book. .... This way I am only carting around my laptop & a stick or two. I save about $300-600 per semester. If the library doesn't allow check-outs..... borrow one from a classmate.
aw man...putting me out of a job.

I work for a textbook publisher. The cost of materials of your typical textbook is very low, lower than you probably would care to know. The development costs is what you're paying for, and they can run into the millions of dollars, no lie. The professors who write them are the cream of their field, and the competition for their services among the major publishing players means that they can command a princely sum for their services. And there is so, so much more that goes into creating a textbook than with other kinds of books.
