sometimes in my mind i go back to the beginning of my jw experience which for me was a very long time ago when i got really excited when the awake and watchtower came through the letter box after i paid for a yearly subscription, just to cover the printing costs you understand.in those far off days long gone in my gullible inexperienced just finished school days i really thought here was a religion to believe in ,to trust,to tell the entire world about and to show others the pretty pictures of the new world as depicted in the books and magazines.at that time i would have literally given my life in order to get through armaggedon.i really thought it was the greatest and only true religion on the planet and in my naive young mind i thought we were living with all the other brothers and sisters in a truly new world society,no more fighting for your countries wars,no more adultary,lying ,cheating,envy, money grabbing, murder etc.just the thought of holding on untill the big a .
and i couldn't for the life of me see why everyone who i spoke to about it wouldn't believe in the message of the watchtower.i thought the assemblies depicted how we would all get along with love in the new world.thats how daft i was.. then one day a seed of doubt entered my mind which at first i dismissed as the devil leading me astray this devil concept was also backed up by a brother , a congregational overseer,telling me it was so.i thought he was right until i discovered that due to his doubts he had stopped going to the meetings ,and then i was introduced to another brother who was classed as spiritually week even though he had refused to go into the millitary and went to prison, he came out of prison with doubts about the so called truth.i thought to myself how can someone be so convinced about his beliefs that he would go to prison for it and then suddenly realise he had been wrong.. then i gradually grew wiser and older ,the scales began to drop from eyes as i witnessed at first hand a hell of a lot of hypocrisy within the so called clean organisation.i went on to learn about beth sarim and the many changes of doctrine which resulted in new light and many, many examples of the lack of true love and care within the so called new world society.
all they were interested in was how many hours you managed to put in each week and whether you were in the clique.the list of reasons not to believe grew endless until at last just as you can fall out of love with someone the love evaporated it just vanished into thin air never to return, and i wonder sometimes where does love go when it drops down dead.. and i realise that without true substance being in love with something or for that matter someone is a figment of the mind.. .

Dude you're far from being alone here. I embraced JWism with a naive, even embarrassing enthusiasm. I think that a lot of JW's thought I was a bit odd - here I was 22 years old and embracing the religion with the unfettered, uncritical enthusiasm of a 5 year old.

I'm trying very hard to make peace with the reality of my situation - that I am, quite honestly, a low-status male and have been as far back as I can remember. I've been told many times that I am "cute" and I keep wondering why this alleged cuteness that I possess isn't getting me laid left and right but I'm learning that there's a whole galaxy of factors other than one's physical attractiveness (and really I'm not even so great in this area) that come into play, especially when it comes to what attracts women to men, where social status probably plays an equal if not greater role than physical attractiveness.
So, with this grudging acceptance of my situation comes the battle to redefine myself. God how I have always wanted the ladies to love me. I can't even tell you. And I have the ego of a ladies man - I gauge my worth by my attractiveness to the opposite sex. And it's only recently that I'm becoming fully conscious of the fact that I'm really really not a ladies man and that I have kidded myself for many years in this area, thinking that I was just *that* close, if I just could do this or that a little better, than BAM I'd be there.
And so, I face the prospect of never getting the high-quality babe that I have longed for for so long. The most recent dating episode has been a big cup of black reality coffee. Although I'm sure she meant well, the gal whose name I replaced with a ____ in the above post (her name is Gina) told me in so many words that she found me attractive in so many ways...but she just didn't feel the physical part. And that's where the aforementioned status issues come into play. People know a low status male when they see one, or at least when they've been around him for any period of time. We give it away in a million ways. I got the feeling that Gina really agonized over whether she wanted to continue dating me. That she finally decided that she didn't drove it home all the more that the sex (status) part killed it for her; that everything else was there. Yay...I'm feeling great.

Yeah, but I don't think they ever allow themselves to imagine, in graphic detail, just what exactly what the Watchtower version of Armageddon would look like if it were to happen in the real world, i.e., billions of dead bodies being picked apart by the birds. It's all very compartmentalized, for the dub ladies especially. I have a female coworker who is a sorta-JW who is in complete denial on this issue. And she was raised in it. "They don't teach that".
europeans and americans seem to have very different culture when it comes to cars which automobiles being much more enshrined in american culture (i'll ignore the obvious oxymoron joke .
for instance, off the top of my head i can think of quite a few references to cars in songs or just driving but they are always american songs and cars.
no one sang much about moris minors or hilman imps i guess and getting kicks on route 66 sounds so much more impressive than the services on the m6.. likewise with films, cars feature in american films but hardly ever in british ones (ok, chitty chitty bang bang and the double-decker bus in summer holiday are the exceptions).. does this explain the different attitudes toward cars on each continent?.

I do find it interesting though, that something that the hardcore rationalists (they know who they are) would have derided as "intuition" may have a solid basis in scientific fact. Doesn't bode well for me though. I'm sure that the "look in my eyes" probably had a lot to do with my recent dating woes.

Wow, my thread made it to four pages. That's about how many *views* my threads normally get...LOL
The worst thing about this recent Personals go-around was that I really seemed to hit it off with three of the six women I went out with. But each one of them ended up telling me in so many words that they didn't feel sexually attracted towards me. All three of them dropped the gayretarded "just friends" business on me, and I'm pretty sure that two of them really meant it (the third was a story for another day but my friend AlmostAtheist heard all about it) though I wonder how deep the throught process is behind such statements:
"Hi ___ how's it going? It's your buddy Dan here, calling you because we're friends now right and friends call each other right? Uh huh...So how's it going with your new guy, you know, the one that after you met him you ended our dating relationship and asked me if we could just be friends? Good you say? Awesome!"
