  I love the Aussie version. I might be biased, but I think even the Americans would find it funny. Can't see why they changed it for the US market.

  When Debating With Witnesses- Is Arguing Doctrine Beneficial ? Steve Hassan

  my wife and i have been reading " releasing the bonds " by steve hassan and it makes some interesting points about assisting people to get out of any cult.

  notice this excerpt from chapter 6 from the book.

  hassan states, " it is also important to understand that in most bible -based cults, although the member is aggressively taught doctrine, it is not the doctrine that holds him in the group.

  Have you found that arguing with the witnesses is fruitless as well ?

  Definitely! Since I've stopped arguing doctrine, life has become much more peaceful as well. I will still contribute to a conversation. For example, in a discussion about the dragnet and the leaven from a recent WT - I incorporated some points from the comments on here. But I don't argue.

  Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?

  i have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.

  there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

  Has there been a shift in how JWs deal with disfellowshipped ones?

  i ask this simply because two jws happend to be passing by me on two different occassions and both times i was greeted ""hello louise"" -- now these witnesses were in my congregation sooo i'm wonderfing if perhaps they've been told it's "okay to now greet those that have been disfellowshipped.

  jehovahs' light is getting ever brighter in this time of the end and the direction, we do not need to be afraid of them, perhaps by your greeting them, they will realise they are still loved and want to come back to the truth.

  we'll be here to welcome them back with open arms".

  I felt important before, now I feel just regular

  when i first got assigned to the circuit work, the branch sent me far away to a rural circuit, they usually do that with the new c.o.'s.

  i had 17 congregations, some of them were only 12 publishers.

  no sound system, no stage, meetings in a persons home with no ac.

  If you think about being important, who were you important to? A very insignificant, small group of people who also all think they are important. Then the bubble bursts.

  Being regular - it should be a huge weight off your shoulders.
