It just seems to happen sometimes that a view gets expressed and it turns into something different from what was intended. Aussie, thanks for posting - just glad you're still here.

this has not been a happy day, a stress free day for me as i am sure some of you know.. but it has given me pause to dig inside to see why i fight to be heard.
why i seemed to have played a part in such a mess with a moderator and other members.. going back a number of years in to the wt, one large event occured where i was not able to make my self understood by my accusers.
no matter how hard i tried to get my veiw accross, the harder it became to be understood.

the jw's say that they recognized another jw they didn't know because there was just something about them, something special.. working at taco bell has allowed me to see just what that "special" is.. i was noticing their clothes and how people don't dress like that anymore.. few women wear floral ankle length dresses/skirts to work anymore.
they wear black slacks and blouses, mostly.
no old men at all wear cheap suits in public.
I love my ugg boots but I'd never wear them outside the house.
you're a dedicated member of the society and you've got a fist full of literature in your desk dawer at work.
in the break room you see someone reading a religious book or pamphlet.
you strike up a conversation with the person and the person shows interest.
Hi Stargater, welcome to JWN. Most JWs I've met are quite normal at work. They probably wouldn't have any literature in their desk drawer (I certainly never did).
They would be quite likely to listen to the viewpoint of their workmates and not say much themselves. When out in the formal door to door work, it's very structured and JWs feel much more comfortable talking about their beliefs in that setting.
When I was a JW, I was only interested in other religions from the viewpoint of proving their teachings wrong. I only ever read material produced by the JWs. There's so much of it constantly being printed, you wouldn't have time to read anything else.
I did sometimes listen to radio programs hosted by religious groups while driving home from work. Or watch preachers on TV. I always thought how fanatical they sounded compared to the JWs.
I don't know if there are any formal directives about reading publications from other religions.

i'm sure i'm the very last person to notice the day shift / night shift groups of posters but i kinda think it's funny when i pop in on an evening and discover posters i've never seen, but who have 10,000 posts.. that's all.
carry on.
situation "normal".. edit: hi, night crew, i'm on the day crew, btw..
BP, I love that stamp! Hi to fellow night shifters, whereever you are. If UK posters are on the board now, it would be about lunch time there. But I guess they are all out at work. Here (South Aust), it's just after 9.00 pm.
About the Brethren, the good thing about these kind of programs - it shows other religions and the JWs might actually watch.

I thought my post about the earthquake was a bit depressing but I see this situation was immediately turned around by my fellow nighters.
Chickpea, the aussies and kiwis are fine together, it's the South Aussies and Victorians that have the problems. But not on here, of course.

The night shift has been rocked by news of the earthquake in New Zealand. Hope our south island posters are all OK.

i have been reading this forum for about a year on and off.
it was a great help in discovering the real history of the jws and helped me realize what a controlling religion (cult?
very recently i stopped all contact with my kingdom hall and have quit my study, so i thought it was about the right time to sign up here.. i am (was) the third generation of my family to be involved with the witnesses.
Welcome Scooby-Doo. A good move not getting baptized. Hopefully because of that, no-one will ever shun you.

Murray, I don't care whether pavlova originated in Australia, New Zealand or with some Russian Dancer, it's delicious!

temp: 32c = 89.6f with very high humidity.. moving from an airconditioned room to the outside is like crashing into a solid wall, ok ok not as bad as that.. had to get changed 3 times due to the perspiration.. tonite 7:05pm electrical storms now arrived, powers gone out & i've only got a led torch & my laptop (only 4 hours left on battery) for entertainment.
so glad i cooked dinner early tonight as i normally cook abit later in the evening.. hows the weather at your place?.
22C = 72F, blue skies, low humidity.
That's Adelaide, South Australia.
And everything's looking fresh because we've had 43mm of rain so far this month (that's a lot - the average is 13mm for the whole of February)
