Yes, deffinitely rent a car. Rent a convertable. The highways that wind up through the hills (particularly along the coast) are beautiful, and your passengers will want to be able to take in as much of the scenery as possible. Along the highways that run along the coast, there are spots where you can park, and hike up to water holes with beautiful water falls. This is something I deffinitely recommend.
As far as snorkeling is concerned, the greatest is to be found on the big island of Hawaii at Kailua Kona. I don't know if you are going to the big island, but the spot at Kailua Kona is considered to be one of the best snorkeling spots in the world. After visiting there - I would agree. It was amazing. This is a spot that is filled with literally dozens of species of tropical fish. You can also get very close to the sea turtles who come to this particular area of shore to feed.
Here is something very important about snorkeling anywhere in Hawaii:
The lava rock and coral in Hawaii can be extremely sharp in most areas. Some of them are razor sharp. Several of us cut our hands and feet when snorkeling and didn't even know it for quite some time. Don't try to snorkel without fins or water socks. Trust me, you will want your feet to be protected from getting cut on the rocks. I went out without my feet being protected and I sliced one of my toes open. When snorkeling, you will also constantly find yourself grabbing onto the underwater rock and coral. This is where you will easily cut your fingers if you're not careful. I would recommend wearing surfing gloves. If not, when grappling onto underwater rocks and coral, grab them with your fingernails, as if you were clawing them. This will save yourself many bandaids!
Also, watch out for the black sea urchins. They look just like little black porcupines. Be careful not to step on them or brush up against them. The spines break off and if they get stuck in your skin, it's exremely difficult to get out; often requiring a doctor to do it.
Make sure your camera has plently of memory storage. You will certainly wind up wanting to take more pictures than you had anticipated.

The Watchtower Society does not use bank account information to ruin people's financial bearings. This is yet another rumor that has swirled around the net.
If the Society even attempted this, they would be caught immediately. Large corporations can't just make huge unauthorized debits to people's bank accounts and get away with it. Don't you think that you would hear these stories popping up in the press?
There is more than enough paranoid delusional fantasies floating around the net regarding the WTS - Russell / Masonic ties, subliminal images in artwork, Illuminati infiltration, and other silliness. How does all of this appear to the average JW lurker? It only reinforces to them that "apostates" have "lost it".
There are plently of serious issues (real issues) that we can address regarding the WTS. Let's please stick to facts instead of indulging in these childish and immaginative stories.

i'm not quite sure where that view comes from, but assuming it is true, my question is: who will replace him when he finally dies?
jaracz is 82, recently had a heart attack, but evidently he is well again and still very energetic so he will probably be around for quite a few years yet.
Another question: Why has there never been a GB who retired? Why do they all get to continue as GB members even when they become decrepid with age? What must be happening is these ancient old buzzards get to vote on important decisions on the GB when they are most probably not up to it mentally anymore.
I don't know that this is always true. When I was at Bethel, GB member John Booth was living in the infirmary, as he was not up to the daily activities. Officially, everyone still refered to him as a GB member, but I know that he seldom, if ever left the infirmary - so I doubt that he was involved in any organizational business.

Actually, this kind of rhetoric is quite typical - and quite old. As far back as Rutherford's era, the organization would churn out this kind of coercive language, with the exception that perhaps they used the word "organization" more often than the "Faithful Slave". The Watchtower's Stalin-style march formation; whereby all members are prodded to give allegiance to the heirarchy is nothing new. Neither are their shallow and transparent talks about "obedience". Rutherford was the grand wizzard of all of this "theocracy" flim-flam, and the current leadership is merely carrying the torch.
I don't think that there is always a corelation between the fact that the organization goes through changes (i.e. "new light", doctrinal switch-a-roos, restructurings, etc.) and the organization's "obey us no matter what" sloganeering. There are two very basic, fundamental characteristics of the organization:
1) It uses coercive language to keep it's membership in unanimity and conformity.
2) It changes it's teachings and policies on a regular basis.
It's like a dog that keeps rolling over in the grass. Eventually, it's going to roll over into it's own poop.
