when i was a youngster, many guys had long hair, then a few years later it got short, very short.
now i've noticed that hair for guys is longer again.. this spring, i saw boys go to school, walking in front of here, and many had very long hair.. .
just a few minutes ago, i watch the news on tv, and the man in his late 30's had very long hair....lol.
I've noticed this a lot among teenagers. I haven't seen too many adults with long hair, but amoung high school kids, it's pretty common out here.
who but the jw's could be gleeful over the happenings in the middle east?
and the problems in n & s korea?
ammo for the doors i guess.
If they are right....and this conflict in the Middle East leads to a war the world is terrified of and the nations and the U.S. beg the U.N to put a stop to it and all look to the U.N as the entity which brings "peace and security" to the world and Armageddy comes because this makes God jealous that people are looking to a false god for their help...then BRING IT ON!!! THE WHOLE STORY STINKS AND IS RIDICULOUS!
You make a good point. I remember one writer talking about the prophecy of the U.N. abolishing religion all over the earth. He asked: "If the U.N. can't even reign in a war-lord who controls a sector of a single territory, how are they going to control a billion Muslims?"
i have a strong reason to believe that the change that will be announced in next few days among jehovah's witnesses will bring a major "refining" work among its members.
take a note of this:
if are not regular in meetings and service of field than you're signalling that you're no longer a jehovah's witness.
Thanks for that info Pele.
It's vey interesting. I would not be surprised if this was eventually implemented.
...when they ask what you offer to replace their faith, or they imply that theirs is the only hope for the massive problems in the world and ask "where (else) are we to go?"..
"[t]hat i have no remedy for all the sorrows of the world is no reason for my accepting yours.
it simply supports the strong probability that yours is a fake.".
SixofNine,
Thanks for posting that quote. That is a great point.
to believe the watchtower story takes a high degree of arrogance.
to think you were so special that god drew you to his organization for salvation.
but 6 billion other humans deserve destruction, is placing huge value on your own importance.. if you converted to being a jw do you think you were sucked in because you did not know the full story (ignorance) or was it because you really wanted to believe you were more special than everyone else (arrogance)?

Or is there another factor that I am missing?
You very well summed up my own mentality for so many years. I was born and raised in the org. I can tell you that for me personally, the idea of me being part of a small elite force in the world felt very good, and to some extents, was addictive. I really looked down on everybody else and loved to rip on other religions. I was indeed filled with false pride and yes, much arrogance.
Ironically, it was this very concept that had the biggest impact in taking me out. The doctrine of God killing billions of people just because they were not JWs began to disturb me more and more. I just couldn't accept it anymore.
for those that don't know, my wife and i moved away from our family and friends to fade away.
my mom and her new uber-elder husband with gb connections have been spreading it around where we are from that he is going to send a couple of elders to my house for spiritual "assistance".
so, everytime an unfamiliar car comes up my driveway a small wave of dread comes over me as the car gets closer.
Hello ithinkisee,
That picture you have posted on your alias is hilarious. Why don't you just go to the door dressed like that?
as i am relative newcomer to this forum, everyone here was a mystery to me.
what i have been doing is going back through the post histories.
wednesday, you are an interesting person.. cabin in the woods, you are about my age, where you live sounds beautiful, and i can sympathize with you about your children's views of their childhood.
Hi Quandry
I thought that you misspelled your alias on purpose; just to be different. Actually, I think you should just probably keep it that way. It's different. I've seen other people on this site have alias words spelled differently.
There are a lot of us who have a similar situation as you, therefore don't post any kind of bio. We totally understand why you don't yet want to get too personal. Sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm new to this site, so I don't think I had yet read any of your posts. Hello and greetings to you.
so when my brother was a wee little lad, my mother was helping him prepare his first presentation.
it involved a paradise tract, i'm sure.. anyway, so my brother, probably about 5 or 6 years old, stands at his first door and makes his little presentation.
except he kind of forgot what he was going to say and kind of made it up on the spot, because what he ended up saying was, "if you'd like to live forever you can have this tract.
That would be a pretty scary picture. Maybe we could start a new TV show called Flabby Old Guys Gone Wild.
yep, my wife and i took our two boys to tgi friday's last night, and of all the tables to sit at where do you think the hostess sat us next to??
i only knew the young woman, as she attended the same congregation i had attended (past tense for about 6 years now).
anyway, i feeling of total dred fell upon me.
It would have been funny if you would have secretly gone over to one of the waitresses and asked her and the staff to sing "Happy Birthday" to her.
