My views on this are probably totally "unscriptural". I always found it utterly stupid that women could not speak from the podium, offer prayers, or even serve as Ministerial Servants in the congregations. I have always insisted that the head covering practice is absolute bullsh#t. (pardon my French) As if the Almighty God is going to be unnerved by a woman praying in front of a man without a paper napkin on her head.

by snarf indoes anyone know of any links or have any info on women's role in the congregation and why the jw are either right or wrong?
i always felt they were wrong, but it was always just a gut feeling.

So is America finally getting wiser? Who still believes this nonsense?
by Jourles inwashington (afp) - for the first time since it began, a majority of americans believe the iraq war is not part of the war on terrorism, as us president george w. bush keeps insisting it is, according to a poll.. fifty-one percent of the 1,206 adults surveyed in the august 17-21 new york times/cbs news poll believed the two wars were separate, while 44 percent saw a link between them.
in june, opinion was split evenly at 41 percent..
rest of the story here.

Unfortunately, the U.S. invasion has turned the entire nation of Iraq into a giant terrorist training camp. Basically, Al Qaeda insurgents are getting first class combat training by blowing up American kids instead of dummies in Afghanistan. So, one could say that the Iraq operation is currently a war on terrorists. If the U.S. pulls out now; the nation will fall into the hands of people who are just as bad as Saddam was. The civil war will rip that country apart. Colin Powell got it right. Shortly before the invasion, he said that Iraq was like an expensive vase in a China shop. "You break it; you buy it", he said.
I knew from the very start that the whole weapons of mass destruction "drum beat" was grossly inaccurate. (not all FOX News viewers bought into the hype.) I also felt that the billions of dollars that would be spent on an Iraqi occupation would be so much better spent on the Department of Homeland Security and foreign intelligence. Unfortunately however, the situation currently is what it is; and there's no going back. The Bush administration has "broken the vase", and now they have to buy it. I think the U.S. owes it to the Iraqi people to finish what they had originally intended. The Iraqi people deserve to have their country back.

Gosh, I don't know. I was already out the door going off to lunch by the time the baptismal candidates came out.

I heard about something back in the 80's, I never knew if it was true, but about a picture of the devil on the front cover of the watchtower? There was a big deal made about it
Yeah, Andre, I know exactly what you are talking about. I remember it too; although the one that I remember was a Watchtower with the title: "Obscene Talk". There was no graphics on the cover.
Inside, there was a drawing of a gang member wearing a bandana. Rumor has it, that a portion of the bandana hanging from the guys head was deliberately drawn to look like a penis.
In another drawing, there was a scene of the apostles. In the background, were foothills. Rumor has it that the astrological symbol of Taurus was hidden in the foothills.
I personally saw these pictures, and they did look rather convincing. However, several years later, I had heard that these stories had been debunked as wild speculation and rumor (sort of like the famous story of the Smurf doll in the Kingdom Hall).
I think that this is one of the reasons why Watchtower and Awake maganzines have mostly photographed scenes now; instead of artist renderings. This prevents people from claiming that the artists hide symbols in the artwork.

Requesting Experiences...
by LtCmd.Lore ini just thought it would be nice to have a documented case of someone other than a jw having been 'protected' from rape, carjacking, murder or mugging in an unusual way (ie.
praying, preaching or screaming 'o my god' and the guy stops and apologizes.).
the idea is that i can the relate the experience to a witness, .

There are countless stories of "worldly" people who did not make it to their jobs in the WTC on 9/11. I remember hearing how certain people got sick that morning, or they missed their train, or their child got hurt and had to be taken to the hospital. Many of these stories on the surface did sound somewhat miraculous. However, why didn't God cause the hijackers to get sick or miss their flights?
As I recall, there were several Witnesses who did die in the towers that morning. Hmmmmm.

All sorts of things would have had to be brought into the ark for survival, for instance, fresh water fish would have had to be taken aboard in order for them to survive.
Yes, as well as salt water life. The flood as described in Genesis would have caused a massive desalinization of the earth's oceans; thereby killing off most of the salt water life (especially plankton, microbes, coral, sponges, and jellyfish).
Maybe Noah had a giant aquarium on board the ark like they have at Sea World.

These so-called exposes are nothing more than the product of an overactive immagination, wishful thinking, wild speculation.
If anyone stares at cloud formations long enoug, they can eventually see the faces of Napoleon, George Washington, or Sammy Davis Jr.
If anyone sifts through bags of potato chips long enough, they will eventually find a Virgin Mary.

according to a very reliable source it will prove that we are very close to the end
homme perdu, What exactly did this "source" say. Did they actually use the word "prove" when talking to you? Did they say that this was going to be a letter / announcement read to the congregations? And who is the source? An elder? Can you provide any more specifics?

I had a few who were genuinely real friends. These were the type of people who's love was unconditional. They were some of the most wonderful people I knew. One of them passed away sometime back, and the others live out of state.
