The Reasoning Book is Inspired
by Thirdson inthat is what 2 jw ladies who came to my door recently told me..
to start at the beginning, periodically, these ladies have called and spoken to mrs thirdson but always on a week day.
mrs thirdson is always very polite and has accepted the mags saying that i might be interested in reading them but making it clear that we are christians and not interested in joining their religion.

Also, if some one points to the reasoning book as inspired, the topic on end times still has not been revised to reflect the 'new light' on generation change.....

Thanks Blondie,
Does this stuff actually appear in print???
You know a lot of this stuff is just way too out there to be made up.......
Who are the others who will marry and have children, only those who survived armageddon, or will those resurrected be in essence released from their marriage vows and free to marry again??

I finally said it...I don't like jw's
by kzjw ini'm vacation and watched as my wife headed out for her piosneering this past monday...i was pissed, because i'm here, but she'd rather be out there, hawking the wares of the borg as a non-paid employee.
i stewed in the house for 3-4 hours, angry that i took vows with this woman, but she essentially is forsaking those vows for her "friends", when she knows i don't care for it.
well the tolerance finally wore off!

kzjw,
I am not sure if there is just a renewed zeal due to the new campaign, but I am so close to doing the same with my wife......I feel that she is cheating on me with the JWs, the way she sneaks around with her 'personal bible studies'. Also, the last minute notices/changes of plans for meeting attendance, all a bunch of.....

this discusses rhetorical fallacy, methods such as red herrings, straw man arguments, generalisations etc.. i would welcome any comments or proof reading.
i would particularly like to know of any additional examples that i may have missed.. .

Is it the JW's or the God of the bible you no longer believe?
by reniaa ini have a question for the ex-jw's on this forum after months of reading the forum..... many say how good it is to be free of the oppressiveness of the jw's that they can now enjoy the freedom to... have sex, celebrate christmas, gamble, embrace politics etc.
there are still biblical scriptures and principles in place that if you still followed the bible would mean you avoid these things and yet these are now embraced as one of the perks of no longer being a jw so in my confusion i ask.... if these are what you want, isn't it more correct to say you no longer follow the bible as apposed to just the jw's?.

This has been a great thread.....from my small perspective, the problem I have with the WT and thier teachings is the intolerance of the organization to non-members. The Bible is a book of love (well at least the NT) and about accepting others. Jesus would fellowship with those who the WTS would consider as apostate and should be shunned. Even in some of the OT stories, Yahweh/Jehovah did not shun satan, who is most likely apostate #1 in anyones book. There are stories in the NT where someone is all but instantly baptized for saying they believe, they did not have to study two books then sit in front of a board of elders, answering a bunch of questions so they could pledge loyalty to a 'spirit driven organization'.
I have never been a JW, so I have never believed in them, but from the outside looking in, the organization seems to gloss over a lot of the good of the Bible to serve their own needs.
The more I think about it, the WTS lives by a more OT view of the Bible than the forgiveness and inclusiveness of the NT.
I realize this post is not directly on topic, but when I hear my wife and the sister she studies with refer to what they are doing as a Bible study, and the only book that they read in context is the one published by the WTS, I can not help but believe the sister and her husband do not know what the Bible really does teach, in fact due to the way they have been taught, they are not only incapable of, but all but afraid to read it for themselves and find out what it means to them. I asked my wife to just read the Bible for what it says to her, well that is when the Insight books, the Bible Teach book and the Bible, God's Word or Man's came out.......
If a JW wants to find out if they believe in the Bible, put the WTS literature away and pick up the Bible and read it like one would read a novel.......let it speak to you.

Thanks, looking forward to Mary's project, you always do great and well thought out work Mary.
Billy, used that example with the sister and her husband who were/are studying with my wife, but did not have the false prophets stuff to back up the generation statement. Did get him flustered however!
