I had posted last Monday about having asked my wife questions on the blood doctrine, the question I asked her is if I need to get someone to be my medical power of attorney. I asked her if a spouse of an unbelieving mate would authorize a blood transfusion.....no answer. I also asked if she realized that the JWs now allow fractions as a Matter of Conscience.....no answer, but in both cases she said she is just studying and needs to learn more. Well yesterday the study sister and her husband drop by a video tape from I believe 2000 or 2001 and a DVD from I think it was 2004 or 2005 on bloodless surgery for her to look at.....I am assuming she will watch the dvd today and will be interested to hear her reaction, I will need to hook up the VCR for her to watch the tape. I am hoping that the video tape since it is pre-2004 will discuss complete prohibition of transfusions, then the DVD I hope will talk fractions, but I am probably asking for way too much. I think that developments that allow for more bloodless surgery are wonderful, but I will need to ask her about the situation when there has been a significant loss of blood.........non-controlled or non planned event...what then is the course of action....death????

Thanks for the voice of calm and reason Just Human......the past is important, and I would guess 95+ percent of the current JWs know nothing about the true past of the organization, they may know of Russell or Rutherford, but for example, I mentioned to the PO of the congregation my wife is studying with that the doctrines of the JWs are very similar to SDA or Christadelphian doctrine and he said that was because they were spun off from the JWs........no history knowledge at all.
Of the other 4 - 5 percent, they have heard of the past, but they are too far in to admit or really consider what the past tells them, I guess they ask the question "where else would I go?"

OMG! a horrible lie in the July WT with a jesus pic....
by oompa inbad day today...how the hey did everyone miss this??
?....or did i miss a post about it?.....i am not supposed to talk about anything jw with my hardcore jw wife...but while on the toilet takin care of biz..i was reading the lit she leaves in a basket...it was a wt..july 08, but dont know which one....once i showed it to her it disappeared...but damm the last page i think... it had a drawing of jesus and the text under it said this "jesus used the name jehovah in his prayers"....or close....and that is a fluckkin lie!...zero support for it!...so i said just freakin show me where he did...i think my pants were still down...i had already come to terms with the fact that jesus never once uttered the name jehovah ever...because what kid...esp in a serious discussion with his dad (like prayer) would ever call him by his first name???
?...she disagreed...how i dont know...but where is the evidence that jesus ever said the divine name in a prayer?!?!!??

they just dont act like the boreans.....they dont really study for an answer...oompa
Truer words have not been spoken......when I ask my wife, who is studying, a question, she calls the dubette she is studying with to get her WTS literature. When my wife gets to the chapter on the divine name in the bible teach book, which will most likely be this or next week, I plan on using some of the information posted by oompa to ask her some questions.....especially the conflicting information where in one place the WTS says the words of Jehovah are preserved and he would not allow for them to be changed and the others where the claim is made that the apostates removed the divine name only from the NT.......
One question, in the mind of a JW, is the NT written only to the anointed?

What is the reason that the WTS uses for not celebrating Thanksgiving
by insearchoftruth inwell i overheard my wife last night on the phone telling someone she does not celebrate thanksgiving, i have asked her in the past why and she gave the stock answer about how holidays are rooted in paganism.
well from what i know, there is nothing pagan about the thanksgiving celebration, what is the official reason that is given for not celebrating this?

Didn't think that, but was wondering if there were any holidays, I guess the answer is no, just Sundays and earned days of leave!

But then many jws have a big meal with family and friends on Thanksgiving or the weekend after with many a convoluted explanation; or watch or attend fireworks on July 4th; or accept military pensions, use military hospitals, or use military burial benefits as well as shop at the President's sales.
Seem to always be around when a handout to be accepted....I am sure that the JWs accept social security, unemployment, WIC etc. What about accepting time and a half pay for holidays, is that not somewhat hypocritical????
