  examining scriptures daily 2009

  found an examining scriptures daily 2009 booklet on my table.

  so i sifted through some of it.

  actually i'm shocked it's not as bad (if they just practiced what was in here) as i thought but ran across a couple different days like this one.

  Does the Governing Body require a minimum number of members/quorum?

  the governing body presently comprises nine members.

  some decades ago it was up to about 18 members, i think.

  how low can the number go?

  this topic is in response to the topic barbara anderson started on brother jaracz stroke, did not want to hijack that thread with this question.. if my memory serves me correctly, there are presently nine members on the gb, is there a requirement on how many there need to be?

  what is the process for the appointment of a new member of the gb?

  I do not hat an individual JW, I loathe the organization for ever recruiting my wife's family, because due to her being brought up in this cultic environment, she has never been able to get it out of her mind and continues to have sporadic flirtations with it.

With the June WT, it appears this position is penultimate to the organization, since the WT in essence gives all the power to GB.

  One of the Governing Body had a stroke yesterday

  on may 19th, theodore jaracz had a stroke.

  he's in very serious condition in the hospital.. that's all the information i have for now.. barb.

  Having very little knowledge of the workings of the organization, thanks for the insight on this Barbara, it really helps open up my eyes to how tyrannical the GB really is at this present state.

  How quickly will this information get passed to the local congregations, if at all? Will it be considered big news, or will it be looked upon that Brother Ted is one step closer to heaven.........and on another note, the remnant count drops by one.

  Worshipping Jehovah without all the rules?

  hi again.... i've been searching around for a few days now trying to understand whether or not there are spiritual folks out there who believe some of the fundamental tenents of the witness religion, but don't believe in all the rules that the gb puts forth... many of the folks that i talk to tell me that the only way to salvation is through acceptance of jesus as god.

  i do accept jesus as the messiah, as a perfect man that god sent to atone for the sins of adam, but i don't believe he is god.... i believe there is one god, one son and one holy spirit and they are not three persons in one god... i feel weird whenever i go to another service that exalts the trinity, as well as some other basic rituals of their religion.... am i making sense?.

  I still attend the KH, but I also attend with my spouse at his church.

  Sounds like a great arrangement....I have many issues with the WTS, not agreeing with many of the doctrines, but the biggest issues are shunning and the belief that non-JWs are doomed as well as the arbitrary second chance given for those who die prior to the big A, but if you are alive at the time of the big A and are not a JW, you have no second chance......all scare tactics.

  hi, just popped in to scan the board for some kind of review of this past sunday's wt study.

  i couldn't seem to find anything.. i'm assuming no one is doing a "wt comments" type of thread any more, but i missed it can someone point it out?

  i found a couple of interesting statements made and wanted to brush up on the implications (it's been a while so i need a refresher).
