Reasoning from the scriptures, is there a plan to release a new version?

i know that the section on last days is no where close to correct anymore with the 'overlapping generation' change, i am sure there are other discrepancies as well with the book.

shouldn't there be a new version of this coming out (or even better for those of us who are trying to find changes a 'change list' like what was done with the 'grand climax' book)?.

the one concern about going pretty much all electronic is I still think a lot of the money is 'made' because in essence the WTS is a multilevel marketing publishing company. If there is no need to pick up paper copies of WTs and Awakes and provide a 'suggested donation' at the KH, and then hopefully collect some additional money from the people while in FS, a source of income will dry up, unless they have a guest and member sites on the internet and maybe make some $$ there.

The WTS seems to be making most of its money at least in the US on real estate these days, I guess the paper goods will have to continue for the global south where internet access is still not a given.

I think that in reality more and more books will be electronic in nature (only) so changes can be made on the fly, could even watermark the printed version with a note that the printed copy is for information only, go to the electronic version for the latest.

the generation thing, as it is in the book, with no reference to any updates, after all , you are not supposed to go off script.
I will need to read the generation article in reasoning, the last days is really damning to them since it speaks about how 'close to the end' we are..........yep, the unchanging word of God, ever changed by the WTS.

Attention Governing Body: October 2, 2014 is only 940 days away...

in 1823, john aquila brown (a man who is not mentioned in any wt publication) came up with a bizarre mathematical calculation which totalled 2,520 years (in an unauthorized attempt to predict the end of the gentile times).... several religions recycled this bizarre calculation, including the adventists and the bible students... when armageddon didn't come on the variety of early 20th century dates predicted by several "dooms-day" religions of that time (including charles taze russell's bible students who predicted that the big a would start in 1914), they all finally realized that this 2,520-year calculation was nothing more than arbitrary mathematical speculation derived from erratic biblical extrapolation.... except for the bible students who continued to move up the date for armageddon 2 more times (1918, 1925) and then decided to use wwi as the starting point for the "last days".. all the while, one thing that seems to remain intact is the october 2, 1914 date.

oddly, for the watchtower bible & tract publishing cult, this particular date still marks the end of the 2,520-year period (that john aquila brown referred to in his bizarre 1823 book "the even tide")... again, no mention of this in any watchtower publication.

but, for jws, that date still remains the starting point for the period of time often referred to as the "last days" or even "the generation that shall not pass".. because of this, the governing body has been forced to change the definition of "the generation that shall not pass" countless times since the early 1970's.

It is amazing how a significant change such as this can be just accepted by millions of people as a good thing. My wife said that the JWs are willing to change while false religion does not.......I guess from her myopic view only the JWs change for the better.....

The general slope of the curve changes in the 2004/2005 area, if one includes 2000 - 2011 and do a straightline approximation, the prediction would be 11295, a slight decrease from last year, but in general an increase over the past 12 years.

If one uses a straightline forecast using the partakers starting in 2005 to the present the 2012 attendance will be ..........12399.

I guess if you can't explain it or can't change it, stop reporting it.....and hope that the folks will not really think it is a significant change.

Since it is a congregational letter, the 'rank and file' will not notice a change, so this will not have any impact at all on the members who don't think for themselves, will only raise a few eyebrows of the inquisitive ones, especially if they look at what the numbers have been doing......
