No further education - is the policy backfiring?

it seems to me that there was a softening of the no further education edict for a little while.

but just lately the 'dangers' of pursuing further education and worldly careers has been made a real issue again.

it seems to me though that this has as much danger of driving the very ones they would like to keep, the talented, the bright, the high achievers, out of the organization.

I can see how this will backfire, as long as children are required to attend high school (which is generally secular) the people are going to have a desire to continue on to college with their friends.....not pioneering.

The only way that they could combat this would be to further encourage home schooling or to set up their own schools, which would be way to cost prohibitive to accomplish!

I am trying to get the po and his wife that are studying with my wife to speak on the societies new hard line stance on education...since she is in college and is encouraging college for her son, may be just another wedge I can use...

Generation change & Michael/Jesus - wife's bible study

sat in on my wife's bible study tonight, next week the husband of her study sister is coming with her, he is actually the presiding overseer of the congregation.

tried to get me to talk about trinity next week, but the topics will be either generation or michael.. .

the sister pointed to the statement in matthew on generation, i believe it was matthew 24:14 and said that since jesus was talking to his disciples, that equates to the anointed.

I do plan on pressing the gentleman on this issue, when the chance arises, I am really hoping that he presents the arguement from Thessalonians, because if the first is so sensible that Jesus is Michael, then by that same logic wouldn't Jesus be God (Jehovah) and then Michael be God (Jehovah)....

Would not state all these things, do not want to appear to belittle the couple, but want to just point out flawed reasoning techniques that are used.

The wife has already asked me that if something makes sense, shouldn't I just accept it?

I sympathize with you on this Stilla, I am a ubm and have problems letting out what I know about the org.....what I hate about it is I would not have an issue with my wife belonging to a religion that had many of the beliefs of the JWs, if it were not for the shunning, the blood doctrine and the negative stances on other faiths and in essence other people.

does anyone know exactly how many were disfellowshipped for appearing on dateline, 20/20 or any of the other networks that exposed the pedophile problem in the organization??.

is there a site that gives their names, etc?
