Did you know any jw who made money off "immoral" businesses?
by snarf ini married into a jw family, my husband, now ex, was df'd at the time, but reinstated.
after he was reinstated he started doing business with a strip club, cleaning it on a daily basis.
at first he made me do it, but i had major issues, there were naked pics posted everywhere, and a porn shop with all sorts of toys that were sold in the club as well.

This work was contracted directly by our business to the strip club. We had keys to the place, purchased supplies and did the work ourselves. Plus we had a carpet cleaning company, not a cleaning company, so I had to obtain different insurance to compensate for the cleaning end.

I married into a JW family, my husband, now ex, was Df'D at the time, but reinstated. After he was reinstated he started doing business with a strip club, cleaning it on a daily basis. At first he made me do it, but I had major issues, there were naked pics posted everywhere, and a porn shop with all sorts of toys that were sold in the club as well. When we seperated his family took over the business, against my will cause it was ALL in my name. Any way his dad was an elder and I made issue of them doing business with the club several times, even during the marriage. How could they make money off that business, but why did other witnesses get counselled for cleaning or painting churches? Just curious if anyone else had similar experience.

Blessings from Jehovah...
by misguided in...today i brought home a new (to me) mini-van.
i've been driving an oil-leaking, 1990 caravan with radiator problems and no heat.
i paid $5000 for a 2001 dodge caravan - not the long one, but fully loaded.

Congrats on the new van ! Sounds like you really deserve it. Thank yourself for all your hard work, and look at your "blessings" as a reward from yourself, to yourself.

Please don't take offence at this ...
by Joe Grundy ini'm not a jw, never have been, and in no danger of becoming one.. having read several of the wt mags and publications (and many more extracts on this and other sites) they come across to me as being very patronising in tone and full of pseudo-scholarship, misquoted (or unnamed) sources, references taken out of context, mis-translations, etc.
i'm aware of jw 'teaching' on the subject of higher education for its members (i.e.
not a good or necessary thing) so i can understand why many jws raised in it may not challenge the publications.

One of the women that studied with me had a degree in political science, but she obtained that degree before studying with the witnesses. She married a guy who was disfellowshipped at the time and later was "converted" to understand her husband more. She is now a realestate agent, has been for about 15 years. That is the only one though. All the other ones I knew were either homeschooled, or had no education after the 12th grade.

What are your reasons for not joining another religion?
by MARTINLEYSHON ini am going to start this debate of by saying that those of us who were raised in the so called truth, and i being one of them, can only come to terms with our past by accepting that our parents infected our minds like a virus infects a computer.
we wouldn't categorise children according to their parents' political stance, since they are too young to make up their minds about such matters.
but they (jw) segregate them from the world.

Organized religion is too much a turnoff...too many personal beliefs. The realization that in the end we are all accountable for ourselves is enough for me.

deceased relatives and visiting in dreams
by snarf inmy grandmother passed away in december of this past year.
she believed that all religions were full of false teachings, therefor at times turning to supernatural beliefs.
she believed in ghosts, life after death, etc... anywho, i had a dream a couple weeks ago, very vivid, and we were riding in an old truck down a dirt road with corn growing on both sides.

free2b2me,
You are so right on. John Edwards is a crack and a con, making money off of people's misery. I too feel that nothing is coincidence, everything happens for a reason, wether it is a life changing event or just a simple lesson.

I Can't Believe I'm Becoming an Activist!
by BrendaCloutier ini showed up and walked in today's global million marijuana march held in over 200 cities throughout the world today.
across the street from pioneer courthouse square where we gathered for the march, there were some protestants singing hymns.
so i walked across the street and gave them handouts on oregongreenfree.com, an oregon medical marinuana patient support group.

Hey if you're gonna march the streets for a cause, why not this!! I will admit I was a avid smoker back in the day, but it seems all it did was make me wanna sleep. There have been many studies and articles written over the years about the positive pain effects for people with chronic pain and pot smokin.I say as long as it is made under strict supervision with no chemicle additives, let the people smoke. Prescription pain killers come with soooo many side effects, the only main proven side effect of weed is maybe a few brain cells, but come on, I am sure those prescription pain killers aren't much better. Awesome Job !!!

Thanks for all the posts. I know that the drea has given me GREAT comfort in knowing Grandma is happy. I find myself praying for another dream, I just woke up so refreshed, relaxed and at peace with life, I would love to experience it again. Death is one of those inevitable things everyone must go through, sadly. It is nice to hear that there are others that have had similar experiences.
I was starting to think maybe I just had a wild imagination and should go seek the councel of Psychic Sylvia Browne
