here is a post on reddit from mark and kimmy o’ donnell, from the crusaders documentary,.
ask us anything.. mr. o'donnell gives his assessment of why wt lawyers continue to defend the child sex abuse cases that the organization continues to fight, even though they see firsthand the deception, the lies, the withholding of facts and dirty tactics used in court.
by an organization that claims to be god's earthly representative, and the only one to hold the truth.
I guess you could ask the same about Catholic lawyers or Mormon lawyers etc. Most criminal lawyers tend to have something of a relaxed attitude to the truth and have the ability to rationalise away any doubts or concerns - their job is to defend their client ( in this case the Watchtower Society.)
one thing i've learnt over the years is to read between the lines.. that means reading statements carefully.. if you have never met someone, would you say "i have never met them" or would you say "i don't remember ever meeting them"?.
the latter is just a get-out out in case evidence is presented that you did in fact meet them, because there is a photo of you with your arm around them in the upstairs of a pedo's friends, girlfriends house, which you also claim you never went to.. what will happen if the us jails a uk royal?
who knows.. before then i just hope he does another of those "utterly convincing" bizarre interviews to "prove" how he couldn't have done it because he is incapable of sweating (cut to photo of sweating andrew).
I still can't believe he did the Emily Maitlis interview. Utter madness. If he wanted some TV exposure , he could have done a Harry & Meghan type daytime interview with a Philip Schofield type about his war experiences, focused on some current charity work and simply batted away any awkward questions.
in my opinion, in a body of elders let’s say with 7 elders , 2 or 3 were pretty much on the ball.
they were reasonable, intelligent and moderate.
the others were either extremely extreme about everything or very liberal.. did you have qualified older men or were they all lousy to you?
One of the problems with the elder system is that unless they end up fornicating a pioneer sister , or leaving the Org after discovering the Truth About the Truth , it is basically a position for life. I've sat in long boring elders meetings where elders refused appointments of elders & MS and frankly , they themselves would never be appointed if they applied the same criteria to themselves. Its like the Peter Principle in real life.
After I left JWs and got involved in some voluntary and community organisations , I noted very similar set ups in most committees of any type. 25% of people are pretty competent , 50% just are padding , maybe OK if you just threw them a bone to work on and 25% are useless and/or obstructive.
i have been watching evans videos for a while.
he keeps attacking the cult for following the bible.
women are to be subservient to men.
Lloyd is doing some "bitesize" videos now. The original poster is quite correct - I suppose Lloyd is an atheist and that does come across in his videos.
Although I am probably 99% atheist now myself and certainly no longer believe in the bible - I did like Ray Franz's books when I was fading as they dismantled JW beliefs from a scriptural standpoint.
please how do someone become an anointed christian in watchtower organization.
i informed my elders in my congo that i am an anointed christian..
The "anointing" of JWs has always interested me and puzzled me , really. Unlike most Christian religions , where profession and personal testimony of such an experience is encouraged and even expected , in JW circles , it is roundly discouraged - even mocked by the leadership ( and the source of much negative gossip in the congregation ). An "anointed" elder in a neighbouring congregation was unofficially banned from giving talks in our Kingdom Hall because he tended to "go on about it" in his talks and comments.
The whole JW ethos is to supposedly to build a strong relationship with God ( which in reality is a strong affiliation and devotion to the Org ) but within limitations. Its an odd concept- and I would imagine , pretty unique. I'm guessing that emotions are involved - perhaps some kind of mechanism similar to that which Derren Brown describes in his video is going on and people associate the trigger event with being anointed.
hey guys, i just wanted to let any felow students know there there is a website just for us to save money :) since the covid i have been buying everything online through them it i have saved alot of money thanks student wow deals.
basically you sign up for free thats it.
hope this helps some people while they are studying!
JWs aren't supposed to be students anyway. The Org says that "Higher Education" is a complete no-no ( unless the Society sends you or you are a son of a GB member like Judah Ben Shroeder ).

So they simply sold the Office block and a bit of the surrounding Land for 50 Mill ? I presume the rest of the Site was sold to a developer for more ?
Yes - the Society divided up the main Bethel sale into 3 lots - IBSA House ( small factory & large offices ) , Watchtower House ( main factory , smaller offices & residential ) & Millhill Kingdom Hall.
Watchtower House ( the former "Bittacy Hill" factory conversion ) was sold to another property company ( link below ) - price unknown.
The onsite MillHill congregation Kingdom Hall there is now under offer ( see below ). It was marketed as a "conference centre" ( the main asset there is the land - there is a big field there , but the Society were unable to get planning permission as it is "Green Belt" land with restricted development ).
Most of the numerous flats and houses the Society owned in the vicinity and used mainly for accommodation for Bethel "heavies" have been sold now. All told - I would guess the Society have raised around £200 GBP million with zero capital gains tax liability for the whole property portfolio which considering it was built with ( effectively ) slave labour is a huge gain. Doubtless they will do the same with the new Bethel in Chelmsford in 15-20 years time and rinse & repeat....

did you ever had a over zealous brother/sister with tales that where even told from the platform on how gee-hovah did things for this person at nausea.
just made you sick.
an insult to one's intelligence.
I remember a self righteous JW family in our congregation were like that - everything was "how wonderful Jehovah is helping me" - even in trivial things. The types to boast about it in assembly experiences etc - how Jehovah they miraculously found them a flat or job etc or directed them to knock on someone's door who became a study. Even some of the somewhat similar JWs in the congregation got a little annoyed.
Then the father had a horrific quad bike accident which left him completely paralyzed. I often wondered how they could reconcile Jehovah seemingly micromanaging them and helping them in really minor things yet he passed on that one.

I wonder how much they sold it for and what will happen to the money?
LDN Investments bought it for £50 million a couple of years ago - I assume they leased it to Purpose ( who in turn are leasing it out to Sky , Netflix etc ). This was well above the asking price ( which I think was guide price 35M - 40M ) and I know that the Society were really pleased with the proceeds for what frankly is basically a really dreary large office block.
Ironically - probably it would go for £70 million plus now - property prices outside central London are rocketing as post covid people are decamping to the green belt & Mill-Hill is changing from a dull but worthy suburb to becoming a really trendy place with a kind of "Notting Hill" vibe.
The sale presumably is in the 2020 accounts which lists total property sales as 70 million GBP ( which would square with the proceeds of IBSA House & other sales. ) The money presumably is being used to bankroll the Chelmsford development - the Watchtower Society is basically a tax exempt real estate development & trading company masquerading as a religious sect these days.
