Ohhhhh NOOO! don't take a crap during meeting, that's bad! I remember being counseled at meetings and assemblies about not going to the bathroom during session, you might miss out on the spiritual food. YOU KIDDING ME! I have to drink at least 5 cups of coffee before each meeting just to keep myself AWAKE! for them and you want me to hold it so I don't miss any of the regurgitated crap some bored elder is spewing from the podium?

Did you get counselled for going backpacking months at a time?
by truthseeker innot many people will have faced this situation, but i know at least one brother who was counselled on backpacking.
it was said that he would be damaged spiritually.. how would he get to the meetings in countries he travelled in?.
what if he was 100's miles away from the nearest hall?.

That reminds me of all the times we went jetskiing or snowboarding on the weekends. My friends and I were always looked down on for not going out in FS or missing the Sunday meeting becuase it fell right smack in the middle of the day (1:00, 3:00). How dare we work all week long to support ourselves and then spend our weekends on recreation instead of service to
the societyJehovah. Even if we did make it to the meeting, we weren't spending the morning or afternoon before or after meeting in FS. Makes me sick to think about all the crap I missed out on when I was young and in my prime (physically and monitarily) simply to please the elders. -

Patrol of the kingdom hall property.
by mdb inout of curiosity, does the kingdom hall make a habit of sending a pair of men out to patrol thier building during weekly studies?
once a week there are certain individuals who walk around a certain kingdom hall to pray against the organization and for the salvation of those inside.
almost like clockwork, at 8pm two well dressed jw men walk around the building once.

My cong. usually has 1 or 2 bro's walk around the outside once every half. All of my previous congs. have done the same. We've had problems with car break-ins though.

Ha! anewme, your comment above about the protestant church and the ministers got my mind spinning old JW propoganda. The first thing that entered my mind when reading your post was all the talks and WT articles about christendom "tickling the ears" of their followers. Holy Crap it is amazing how engrained all this stupid ish is in my head. Jah forbid a minister of God actually make you feel good about yourself, thats not supposed to happen, thier just tickling your ears. Feel like ish little lamb as I kick and throw you about, don't return to your vomit, if you feel good about yourself you must be in CHRISTENDOM!!

Well as XBEHERE stated, we CA at the end of the week which is another reason this week completely sucks. Funny thing is most people are worried more about where we're going to eat after the assembly than what the CA's theme is. I remember when I was younger, after every assembly day it was a popularity contest on who your going out to eat with......would it be the cool kids or the losers.....stupid!

Everyone is making a huge deal about it. “Better not miss meeting this week the DO is giving talks!!!!!!!” “He’s better than the CO because he has even less to do with you personally!!!!” I don’t even know his name, nor care. I am not at all looking forward to the emotional beat down we are about to receive this week. “Service time is down, meeting attendance is down, get your ass in gear people….Jehovah ain’t waiten forever…..or is he…..if you don’t start working your ass off every free moment of the day Jah is gonna blast your ass with a giant meator and have your kids ripped apart by a wild pack of gerbils……ALL SHALL KNOW THAT I AM JEHOVAH!!!!” I already want to puke. The people in my cong. don’t even realize the only reason we are “hosting” them is so they don’t have to pay their gas bill or buy a meal this week either. WHAT A PRIVELAGE!

How about a porn site featuring pioneer sisters and brothers. Could help them pay for gas and coffee breaks. OR!! CO's wifes in every KH in their circuit, that way you can get the congregations to pay for photo shoot costs.

Que, Sara, Sara
by finnrot ini seem to remember when i was a kid that the innocent song que, sara, sara song sung by doris day was considered evil.
i was a kid in the 1960's and i remembered that i thought that song was cool.
but i seem to remember that it was hated by the witnesses.

In my house it was the smurphes (sic). I remember when I was young my sister and I were watching Cinderella when a brother visited to sell us some sort of appliance. He saw us watching the movie and started going off on us, couple of kids, about how horrible the movie was because it had a fairy godmother who performed magic...ooooohhhhhhh!!!. We quickly turned it off, ashamed. That same brother was later DF'd for adultery and ended up Gay. Ha! guess he didn't mind fairys so much afterall (sorry to all the gay friends, I couldn't resist).

JW couples don't love each other
by Nosferatu inhas anyone else ever noticed this in the kh?
married couples don't seem to show any affection to each other.
however, when a couple is dating, they will hold hands.
-
lost_light06
The term "showing affection" in the KH isn't just limited to kissing or groping, we're talking holding hands, arms around your spouse, hugs, anything that someone would be able to associate with the couple actually being a couple. It varies from cong. to cong. too. In my old hall it was absolutely looked down on, in my current cong. it doesn't matter. I could probably dry hump my wife in the aisle and the elders wouldn't care, they'd just excuse themselves to the backroom for some self studying. What is even more bizarre is the dating process. When my wife and I were dating we were counceled to not hold hands or even sit by each other until we were officially engaged, we actually got "pulled back" for that. We were also counceled to only date for 6 months before engagement and the engagement should only last 6 months. The first time we sat by each other before we were engaged an older sister came up to us and asked us when we got engaged. Stupid little rules based on nothing.

So what about Lent and Easter??
by Super_Becka inok, so today is the first day of lent (which is painfully obvious to me because i've chosen to give up my favourite snacks for lent and right now, i have a really bad craving for doritos), and it got me to thinking, once again, about wts doctrine and the whole banning of holidays thing that they have going on.. i've read the reasons behind banning things like birthdays, christmas, halloween, mother's and father's day and national holidays like canada day and independence day, but i have yet to read anything about lent and easter.. so, what's the line of reasoning behind the banning of lent and easter??
and i don't mean easter as in chocolate bunnies and easter eggs and all of that, i mean easter as a religious celebration of the resurrection of christ.
after all, jws have the memorial of the crucifixion, don't they??

Jesus resurrection is not part of the "memorial" celebration. In fact JW's don't do anything to observe His resurrection, it's not important to their doctrine. The only thing about Jesus that is important to JW's is his death (i.e. means of salvation). They only mention His resurrection as part of the series of events surrounding His death.
