Are the anointed declared righteous? While Great Crowd is not?

in the revelation bookstudy this week, there was a subtle suggestion of another fundamental difference between members of the 144,000 and the great crowd:.

Finally, Jehovah forgives the error of the other sheep on the basis of Jesus’ shed "blood of the covenant." (Matthew 26:28; 1 John 1:9; 2:2) God does not adopt them as spiritual sons, as he does the 144,000. But he does declare the other sheep righteous, in the sense that Abraham was declared righteous as God’s friend.—Matthew 25:46; Romans 4:2, 3; James 2:23.

For the 144,000, being declared righteous opens the way to their having the hope of ruling with Jesus in the heavenly Kingdom. (Romans 8:16, 17; Galatians 2:16) For the other sheep, being declared righteous as God’s friends allows them to embrace the hope of everlasting life in a paradise earth—either by surviving Armageddon as part of the great crowd or through the ‘resurrection of the righteous.’ (Acts 24:15) What a privilege to have such a hope and to be a friend of the Sovereign of the universe, to be "a guest in [his] tent"! (Psalm 15:1, 2) Yes, both anointed and other sheep are blessed in a wonderful way through Jesus, the Seed of Abraham.

it was a thursday night meeting and i was extremely bored - planning to escape.

while the second song was playing, i quickly grabbed my things and headed for the door.

A sister in our hall, who does not have the best body, walked all the way down the aisle from the ladies room to the third row from the front with her dress tucked up and into her panties, thereby exposing her whole backside. Funny enough...BUT, she was wearing a thong!!!!

She picked up her song book, oblivious to the situation, and began singing.

date : 20.03.07. foster mother eunice spry has been found guilty of subjecting children in her care to two decades of horrific abuse.. the 62-year-old, from tewkesbury, beat them, fed them rat droppings, stopped them sleeping and rubbed their faces with sandpaper.

she thrust sticks down their throats when they misbehaved and made them eat dog food.. one daughter was forced to use a wheelchair for four years even though she was perfectly able to walk.. doctors, teachers and neighbours raised constant concerns about spry's treatment of the children but nothing was ever done by social services.. the catalogue of abuse only came to light when one of the children went to the jehovah's witness elders at the church the family attended.. spry, from tewkesbury, was found guilty of 26 charges of cruelty after a three week trial at bristol crown court.

The WTS and its vicious slandering of the early church

one of the most disagreeable actions of the wts is the vicious way in which it relegates the christian martyrs of the early church not only in seeking to minimise their number but also their authenticity.

they claim that after the first century the church went apostate and there were basically very few genuine christians so most martyrs were worthless.

yet when we examine the early church doctrines closely we see that they were pretty much based on the bible and perhaps also on books that were then circulating among the churches and considered, perhaps wrongly, to be genuine at the time.

A sister and I in my congregation had this discussion a couple of months ago. In light of the ever increasing number of partakers, we were discussing whether or not the number 144,000 was literal (YES!!! These conversations ARE taking place in the congregation by people who are considered "strong" JWs!!) In the course of the conversation, I said that I didn't know how it could be literal in light of how many martyrs died in the 1st and 2nd Century. She went with the party line of...yes, they died for their faith, but they had apostasized.

I asked if she thought the anointed who died in Nazi Germany were martyrs. She said yes. I asked her how they differed from those early Christians. They had incorrect beliefs also, cross, holidays, etc., but we excuse them because they did it unknowingly. Then, I asked why we do not excuse the early Christian R&F, who might have had some wrong understandings such as those brothers and sisters in Germany, but who died horrible deaths for their beliefs and faith in Jesus.

No answer....dear in the headlights expression. You could literally see her mind churning.

The whole Catholic thing is the only issue I'm finding also. Apparently, "The Finished Mystery" had, as the Proclaimer's book says, "cutting remarks" about the clergy. I wonder if anyone took the Bible Student's very seriously back then.

Dear Undercover:

I agree with you; I tried to post some information earlier, but got an error message. This IS a change towards a more strict position. Prior KMs did not ban ALL jeans, shorts and T-shirts. I do not recall anyone in my congregation, including elders and their wives, who felt it inappropriate to change into jeans to go to dinner.
