Hey Peaches
I've been a fully qualified YMCA General Populations Personal Trainer for a while now and would advise you NOT to listen to sketchy stuff (by the way stillawjexelder...if you're Bicep Curling with 50KG dumbells you must be the size of the HULK!!!!!! Are you sure you're not mistaken???) Anyway Peaches, be careful. The best books on the market are by a publishing company called Human Kinetics, they also have a website. It's all American stuff (you're the world leaders in fitness science) so your local bookstore will no doubt have some of their gear. Another website you may find interesting is the American College of Sports Medicine ACSM, which is the Fitness Instructors 'Mecca'.
If you're a beginner you need to start with LOW weight, a weight you can manage 20-25 repititions with..just ONE set. Do this for the first 6 weeks.
Carry this throughout the whole body using whats known as Compound Multi Joint Exercises i.e Chest Press, Shoulder Press, Lat Pull Down, Seated Row, Squat. These all use more than one joint to accomplish the move and are safer for a beginner.
It's a very deep subject but the Human Kinetics books will help.
Have fun and if you need any help, post me

further to the thread that minimus stated about 'still believing'....what i want to know is do any of you stil believe in jehovah?
that is, the named god of the bible that sanctioned the genocide of millions of unbelievers.
as the israelites came into the 'promised land' god told them to devote to destruction 7 populous nations and not let a breathing thing live, or in other words commit genocide!!!
Anewme!....Narkisos!...You impress me...feckin' brilliant posts. I toast you.

Kill babies, tiny toddlers, kids...slit their throats...run them through with the sword...chase them through the streets screaming for their mothers. I remember reading in the 'insight' books that there were about 3 million people in those 7 nations....3 MILLION!!!! I can't personally believe in that god...he disgusts me to the core, a crazed murdering maniac!! There are many other inhuman things he sanctioned and perpetrated.
I've raised this briefly before, but just thought i'd put it out there as a thread. Do you still believe in Jehovah? If so...how can you?

it is a sin to throw away your watchtowers and awakes.
you must let them build up and up and up, until you need to store them in boxes that will be places in corners of the attic or basement.
when you find them years later, still do not throw them away or you will die at armageddon!
When the time comes Gill....ya go and throw 'em in the waste paper skip!! I was always led to believe, even when i was in the org, that it's only paper. You could use it all to light the bonfire on the 5th of November...'Build a bonfire, build a bonfire put the Watchtowers on the top, they are fleecing and misleading and i couldn't give a toss'.........

6 months ago i moved house. It was a big exorcism for me. Been DFed for 5 yrs now and moving was a new start. I went to the went to the waste paper recycling dump and threw away.......30 yrs worth of bound volumes (60of 'em), 2 massive boxes of other books, including my 'shining as illuminators' pioneer school book, 15 yrs of meticulously collected and filed kingdom ministries.......a helluva load. Do i feel like i'm forever cursed? Naa...i feel fine.

i noticed that many different people have coped in many different ways, i believe this reflects the fact we all have left or been kick out for different reasons.
what have you done since leaving?
have you joined another church, are you athesitc?
Hmmm....I joined the gym and then filled my life with learning to be and graduating as a YMCA Personal Trainer. But do any of us REALLY cope as we would like to? When JWs walk past you in the street and look at you like you're shit. Most of the time it doesn't get to me, but from time to time it does. I only truly miss one person.....sweet Jenny.

inspired by one of the other threas on todays board i was remindedof what the po of my 'then' cong' said just befors i left for good.. can't remember what the subject was but he ended up quite proudly announcing.....'if jehovah asked me to.....i would have no trouble killing someone, i would find it easy'!!
stunned silence.......this man is now a circuit overseer!
the phrase 'crazed extremist' comes to mind.. what was the most unbelievable, outrageous thing that was uttered in your earshot.
Thanks for all the posts people....some truly AMAZING experiences, really.

time to start living again.
i have come to realize that for the last two years i have put my life on hold, i have not been living i have just been floating just existing but not living, not really living.
it is time for me to change this.
That bit at the end sounds selfish...i meant enriching others aswell as myself. I'l be perfect one day

No one can be truly happy whilst living a lie can they Lola? It's all about honesty with ourselves. Of course it would be wonderful to think that what the JWs taught us was 'the truth' and i think alot of us would go back if it was....but...it aint my friend, it can't be for inumerable reasons. Y'know that's really sad but really great in one fell swoop. It may not be that profound...but to be truly happy for just a few years instead of half-hearted and miserable for a lifetime....i think we would all choose the former. My goal now is to live as long as i can in as full a way as possible, enriching myself and being enriched with others. Live it....Love it!!!!
