what was your reaction when you found the truth was a lie?

at first i felt like everything was confusing and i felt lost but after a week (yep only that) of learning more i felt better and even intelligent.. i had beaten one of the biggest lies alone!

The lack of true undiluted, unconditional love is and was a big deal. There's loadsa stuff and if i'm honest it really has taken quite a while for the chains to finally rust away. When i was a sweet little Catholic kid all i ever wanted to do was 'the right thing'. With the JWs i was 200% certain i'd found the TRUTH, as did many of us. When the carpet was finally pulled from under my feet.....that was a BIG deal for me! I don't think the anger and frustration has properly subsided yet and surfaces from time to time, especially when self righteous sods walk past you in the street with noses aloft. But to quote Van Morrison, ''The healing has begun''.

Speaking from a music lover and musicians point of view, Prince is and probably always will be a very, VERY clever artist. It's a bit sad that he worships the god that he does but we've all made that mistake. Maybe he'll 'snap out of it' like His Bobness did. That said, he's still making good music. I've just bought his latest. Constantly comparing new stuff to his legend making old stuff is not good IMO. His religious direction doesn't worry me in the slightest because for me it's the groove, feel, and overall 'noise' he makes that IS Prince. For me (and this is maybe down to taste) anybody that's a musician and serious about music simply HAS to tip their hat to him for at least a few tunes. One of the foremost pop geniuses of the modern age..no contest.

when i first joined the forum a short while ago the aforesaid book was recommended to me after i ranted about the disgusting, genocidal machinations of jehovah.

nathaniel merritt, although i don't concur with all he says, is a very brave and bright guy.

his abhorence of the nightmarish evil perpetrated by this god mirrored the thoughts that i've been having for a few years now.

Am i to presume that you follow Jehovah? If so,are you comfortable worshipping him? You seem to have a very realistic view of the way things worked in that ancient society.

Not really sure how to take your comment. I think i see your reasoning but i'm not sure about your analogy regarding the atomic bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The dropping of those bombs on innocent Japanese civilians, in my and many others opinions was a war crime against humanity. One 'A' bomb is bad enough...but not TWO, they were merely guinea pigs. Not a dig against the U.S. because Britain is 'covered' in the blood of innocent people too. The British thousand bomber raid on Dresden perpetrated by the infamous 'Bomber Harris' was a war crime against humanity. That is were the link with Jehovah lies if you want to draw one, a war criminal that has never been brought into judgement...because he's (apparently) untouchable. Just because the Caananites didn't care about their kids (and i doubt that anyway) doesn't excuse god's orders. As for 'damage limitation' which i also think you're alluding to...well Hitler could have used that excuse and maybe even did!

no i haven't read the replies to my last post although i'm finding it hard to resist.. but let me just add some things.

there is no doubt that some of you 'apostates but you don't even know it' thought you have given some very clever respones.. just to clarify, i've had my share of the world and i'm glad i'm out of it, you however are hanging around on a jw site this is my first and last day of looking on here - and i'm only on here to wnd you lot up, .

how easy was it really - i'm off sick, how many of you just haven't got anything better to do.

Just finished "Crisis of Conscience"

i have just finished crisis of conscience and it moved me to write raymond franz a letter of appreciation.

does anyone know how to get a letter to him?

i think i will send it through the publishing company unless there is a better way.. everyone should read this book, it is a real eye opener.

I've heard about this book many times, but now i'm going onto Amazon to buy it! Just read 'Jehovah Unmasked' by Nathan Merritt. Wow.

You can make your post as long and as biblically academic as you like but there is never...NEVER any excuse for killing innocent children that don't even know what life is about much less make a decision about who they worship. If you READ your bible you will see that there were plenty of nations that were never give either warning or chance (Deut 7:1-4). In these 7 nations that were TOTALLY wiped out there were up to 3 MILLION people. THAT IS GENOCIDE!!!

Yeah i know what you mean about the graphic stuff, but for me itwas only when i stripped away the sugar coating and thought about it in those terms that it really hit me. It was like, 'hey stop...think about what acually happened here'. For me it was only when i engaged with the true horror of the stories that it hit home. Top username by the way.
