i see that quite a few are following the dreadful attacks in lebanon.
today i went swimming to cool off with mr c and we were discussing what ways we could make our disapproval and anger at israels actions felt, besides being human shields.
(mr c reckons i'm big enough to stop one missile, but would be pretty useless after that.

newssplash: tour de france winner floyd landis fails drug test, his phonak team says, according to media reports.. .
does this mean i will have to repay my betfair winnings if he's disqualified?
Hmmmm
Being a qualified Personal Trainer, 'doping' is a subject that interests me greatly.
My peronal stance and opinion of many of my contemporaries, is that ALL modern day atheletes are enhancing their perfomance in some way or other! They have to in order to keep up, it's the way it ticks now and there's waaaay too much money involved.
As for Lance Armstrong (his noble and gutsy fight against cancer aside) well let me relate this.
My friend who is a keen road cyclist (recently cycled from Lancashire, England to Barcelona, Spain) tells me that the latest technology is genetic manipulation and thinks that is what Armstrong used, apart from drugs and his natural ability.
The masking and hiding of these drugs in the body is just as advanced a science as the drugs themselves.

yesterday, at 5 in the afternoon, my 17 year old son was swarmed and beaten by a gang of 6 young males.
in broad daylight, on the busiest corner of the city, in front of his horrified girlfriend and about 300 passers-by.
he is in the hospital with head injuries.
Jeeeeeesus Stealth!!!
I have 3 boys (18, 16, 14) and it's one of the worst nightmares of a parent to experience this kinda shit. Poor kid!
Much love to you and yours.

Hey Sunny
Well i find myself agreeing here. Not a massive U2 fan but ONE is their best song IMO and it's also the song of theirs that i enjoy singing the most, it's part of my repetoire (i'm a musician/guitarist). I love to belt it out and feel the song fly out of my lungs.....'love is a temple, love the higher law'.....
A classic in that gospel tradition that they did so well with I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For.

it made me think, reading comments on carpenters thread....... what music did you throw out when you were a witness??.
i got rid of all my led zeppelin (satanic backtracking and all that baloney).
all my deep purple.
When i read through these posts it makes me realise what seriously warped people we were involved with. The reasonings that they used and the ultra-paranoia that possessed them/us.
Good story Tijkmo...wow.
It makes me want to guard my personal freedom all the more so, in a 'screaming blue faced Mel Gibson' kinda way.

Superb posts you people!!
LMAO at Dismembered and DB74 (What was hidden in the drawer DB?)
Thing is, the paranoia that this cult raised in us would have made us throw anything out. Craaaazzeeeee!
Listening to RUSH (Raised Under Satans Hand is it?) has never made me wanna nail cats to peoples doors or drink virgins blood. Funny that!?!!
I'm a musician, i neeeeeed my music. The odd bit may make me feel a bit melancholy but i turn it off when i realise it's having that effect.
We're freeee people and it's a darn good feeling.....now...where's that Black Sabbath album?

All my Deep Purple
All the Black Sabbath (speaks for itself)
Somebody even told me Rush were satanic (out they went too)
Anything remotely connected to punk/new wave (too rebellious)
Believe me it was ALOT of albums/vinyl
I have since replaced most, except the Sabbs.
Happily i also listen to a much more diverse range of music too.
Man..... the things we did........

he may now be a bit of an 'old croc' but neil young has really pulled a gem out of the bag with his latest album 'living with war'!
i've been a fan for over 25 years now and this is a milestone album, probably the best since freedom or ragged glory imo.
he's very often at his best when ripping into someone or something, a brilliant writer when it comes to putting things simply and in a nutshell.. stand-out track has got to be 'let's impeach the president'.

I agree with the sentiments of your post. He's not really going anywhere new musically, i heard it was a rushed album. But the 'bite' of the old dog is just as strong and that's what i like. Whether it stands the test of time is something we'll have to wait to see. The anti-war thing has been reverberating in America for a while now, the more commonly known stuff coming from Greenday's last noteworthy offering, so Young isn't going anywhere new in that way either. I do think it's brilliant though that he can still turn out good stuff when artists of a similar age struggle miserably.

Stand-out track has got to be 'Let's Impeach The President'. Very few thinking people could like Bush and Neil Young speaks for us all in this rip-roaring, scathing denunciation of a bad, bad leader. Nixon has nothing on Bush, which reminds me of Ohio, possibly the greatest song he ever wrote. I hope Mr Young 'keeps on rocking' for a long time yet if he's going to release material like this and i hope America and the world can soon be free from Mr Bush. Listen to the song.
