Not true...that's the problem. There are things they teach that are biblicaly correct. It's all the man-made rules that the GB builds into the religion that is the real problem.
I find myself agreeing with you there Flash. An awful lot of what they say about the bible is accurate and seems to make sense and for many, that's the hook.
Their 'nitty-gritty' interpretations of scripture and as you mentioned the 'man-made rules, well there's where we run into the steaming pile of horse crap!!
Gill i'm so jealous of this guy having the JWs come round to his house. So many times i've fantasised about walking into a KH and shouting my mouth off but then i really would be seen as the archetypal weirdo apostate..wouldn't i just?

well one thing that i don't feel stupid for is the statement- owww did you feel jehovah's holy spirit!
i don't know about you but i have never felt jehovah's spirit while i was in the org, .
Anyone can feel god's spirit!! It's not some supernatural force.....of course (rhyming...eh?..eh?) it's just a feeling inside, maybe just energy flowing the way it ought to.
To illustrate. I've just started looking into meditation. One of the things about meditation is that it allows the natural energy to flow through our bodies, facilitating many things. Soooo.... i had a do, a real serious go at it....and....and...it was AWESOME!!
For 15 mins i sat there and did the gig and when i got up, i swear i have never felt as calm and at peace in my life. I also could not stop smiling. That could eeeeeasily be construed as gods speeerit (Dan Sydliks accent) but all it was was the positive effects of energy flowing through my body...i believe.
I don't care for the gods spirit myth anymore ta very much.

the thread on jws and hobbies got me to thinking about this, one of my basic disagreements with witness thinking.
the wts always seemed to be dividing activities into those that were "spiritual," and those that weren't.
in witness-land, going to meetings, praying, going out in field service and personal bible study were basically considered the only "spiritual activities.
A truly spiritual person will really struggle to stay a JW.
And conversely, a truly JW person will really struggle to be spiritual.
In fact, they will struggle to be ANYTHING other than what they have been told to be by the WTS.
