although, not a rule from the borg there are ones who would say you should not have pets.

can you think of other silly made-up rules that someone tried to impose on you?

Err... could you explain this to me in fuller detail? How could it be that much different?

lol sure!

When a baby boy is born his foreskin is attached to the glans(head).It serves as a protection from infection etc. and should never be retracted until it detatches itself(sometimes up until puberty).

So in a brief overview...when a baby boy get's circ. today:

they first make a cut into the end of the foreskin to make room for the tool they use.They then have to rip/tear the skin away from the glans(head)(it causes bleeding because it's attached much like your fingernail is to your nailbed).

Then they place their tool around the foreskin and they then have to clamp it tightly enough to crush the skin so it doesn't bleed like crazy.And of course cut away the foreskin.(there are many different types of these tools and ways to use them,so I'm being general here)

There are many blood vessels in this area as well as nerves(much like your eyeball).So in the end they have removed quite a bit of skin.Which of course is extremely sensitive skin.And needless to say it would be a painful experience.

Biblical circ. is much different because:

They would first gently but firmly pull out the foreskin, out in front of the glans and a tool like a shield with a slot in it is slid over the very end of the foreskin(that's immediately in front of the glans). Then a scalpel/knife was run along the face of the shield to remove the small tip of foreskin.The glans is protected by the sheild and the frenulum is left intact.(the frenulum is usually recommended to be removed in circ today)

It goes quick and there is very little blood loss and is a simple procedure.Something even people living way back then could of done.These people were living in tents without all the modern things we have today.So they couldn't have be doing anything major or else infection would have become a huge issue.

Most of the sensitive foreskin is left untouched no tearing away of skin,no crushing and very little cutting,little is actually removed. This is why "some" believe the statue that Michelangelo made of King David is wrong.Because he is uncircumcised. He is uncirc. by our standards today but by biblical standards would have been accurate.At a brief glance a biblicaly circ. male would appear to be uncirc.It's a small difference.The biblicaly circ. male would also still retain the benefits of an intact male.

There is quite a bit of info on the web about this subject.For new parents it can be a pretty heated issue.I just think it's funny JW's would tell me how I should circ our boys because it was something God said to do for his people.And yet they don't even have a clue as to what circ really was way back then.Many in my JW family treat Doctors like gods.Never asking questions or researching anything for themselves.

I wonder where those JWs came up with that unwritten rule

From what I was told it was considered "more spiritual" because it was a command formaly decreed by God. And all the other "nations"(in biblical days) didn't practice this custom so they were "pagan".

The real kicker to me is, "biblical" circumcision is NOT the same type of thing. It was a VERY different type of circumcising,not like they do today in hospitals.

hmmmm.... here are a few I remember....

no wearing cowboy boots on stage

no jean skirts allowed,no "jean" type fabric especially on stage giving talks

and yes if I were to talk to any of the young "brothers" all the elders would have red flag flying

you were NOT to sit next to any brother unless you were already engaged to be married

no "wild" ties for anyone giving "parts" at the meetings and yes,no "dark" shirts

if you wanted to" handle the mics" on Sunday your Watchtower had to be underlined/highlighted

women should not get perms in their hair because it makes their hair look to "wild"

WHATEVER!

it's about a mormon offshoot group, complete with a commune, child brides, and polygamy.

My wife and I have discussed Polygamy before we've even got another wife picked out

Oh wow really! I'm curious as to the reason why your interested in getting another wife. Is it because of sex,companionship,or raising children?? I would let my husband have another wife too,IF we could find another wife that we both agree on.We've also had many discussions on this issue recently. It's hard enough finding ONE good mate let alone two! I (and hubby) would like to do it for family reasons.We've had 5 childern and life can get a bit crazy at times and it would be really nice to have another person around to help out.And I also would like to have a friend around that would be more like a family member.Especially since ALL my family and JW friends have told me they will have nothing to do with me unless I go back to the meetings(their all a bunch of brats!).But anyway,the sex part I know my hubby would LOVE,LOL! But that wouldn't be our main reason for doing something like that. I'd definatly be willing to share my husband if I could get some help with raising the kids/household duties and getting a break here and there to be free to go do a few fun things too, instead of being the one that always stays to care for the kids.And if we had another "wife" to help out I could continue to have childern and it would be far easier.And she could have a few too,if she wanted.

Does this other wife you have picked out know about what your thinking,how did you ask? What did she think of it?

WT 1/15/2006 & 607 date Is this in "their" best interest?

i'm kind of surprised this was said in the wt.

but it helped me in the discussion i was having with my parents.. my parents called the other day and was telling me how the 607 date is a "figurative" thing not a "literal" thing.

they said it had to do with the vassal kings and the removal of god's spirit, so it then became a "spiritual kingdom".

My parents called the other day and was telling me how the 607 date is a "figurative" thing NOT a "literal" thing. They brought out what it says in the Reasoning book on pg.96 ..."Finally, by early October of 607 B.C.E. the last vestige of Jewish sovereignty was gone." He then said the WBTS knew it couldn't possibly be 20 years later in 587 B.C.E. because nothing of significance happened in 1934. I said, "EXACTLY!!" So anyway to make a long story short I had the Jan. 15, 2006 WT and asked him why it states this on the back cover:

...."The scrolls dated back to the time before the Babylonian destruction of Jerusalem in 607 B.C.E."

He said, well they say that because they can't put a huge long explaination everytime they mention 607. But here is where I nailed their butt to the wall or should I say the Watchtower nailed him. On pg 19 of the Jan. 15th 2006 WT in the article "Jehovah's Word Is Alive" second paragraph it states:

..."In the seventh month of 537 B.C.E. (Tishri,corresponding to September/October),the faithful returnees offered their first sacrifice.The Babylonians had entered Jerusalem in the fifth month (Ab,corresponding to July/August) of 607 B.C.E.,and two months later the city's desolation was complete.(2 Kings 25:8-17,22-26) As foretold, Jerusalem's 70-year desolation ended right on time. (Jeremiah 25:11;29:10) Anything Jehovah's Word foretells always comes true."

So it stated right there plan as day that the city's desolation was complete!! My parents didn't know what to say! They said they were going to have to do a little more research on the issue. And they were going to go and talk to the elders that had told them this.LOL!

THEY are their own worst enemy! If they were smart they would stay completly away from this 607 & 1914 date. But that's okay it just helps us all the more!

Yes I find this funny.Ya know, if someone gets a tattoo then ooooh he/she must be on the edge.But a boob job,oh hey, that's okay! The bigger the better right? That's never considered "on the edge".

"DF" I'm pretty sure a "Tramp Stamp" is a tatoo a girl gets in the small of her back.You can see them really well when a girl wears the low "hip hugger" type pants/jeans.

I too believe with "jwfacts" in how the tattoos were forbidden because of religious reasons.

I have several family members and relatives with either tatoos or navel piercings. None of whom were df'd.

The only thing I don't get is. How can they talk down about tattoos and piercings and TONS of jw women go and get BOOB JOBS??Tell me what the heck is the difference?? What is the difference between art drawn on the body and getting your boobs bigger? It doesn't make sense.But then again maybe it does because all those elder wives and the like would never stand to be told they couldn't get a boob job.LOL

How much longer till the TOWER is no longer?

i was wondering how much longer you think this org.

has until it completly falls apart?

it seems there is alot of things changing quickly.

I was wondering how much longer YOU think this org. has until it completly falls apart? It seems there is alot of things changing quickly. There's alot of lawsuits,young ones are leaving in mass, changes within Bethel,cutting back with Awake mags. and other publications etc.

And I also notice among the "active" members in the cong. around the US is.... that EVERYONE is complaining that times are getting Soooo HARD and that EVERYONE is having major problems.Looking at my 3 sisters' congragations, my parents cong.,my inlaws cong. and this local cong. ALL have complained of a major "everyones falling apart". And ALOT are either on some sort of anti-depresant(sp??) or use alcohol to medicate.

I can't see it going on longer than 10 years.But it may be even less than that.What's your best guess??
