What kind of safety precautions do dubs take for field service?

do they provide guidelines about safely entering homes?.

if a jw enters a home for the first time, what kind of safety precautions are taken by the car group to ensure the safety of the jw?.

for instance i was shocked to find out my jw wife wasn't instructed by the elders as to which homes belonged to registered sex offenders.

I remember a few years back (maybe 3 years ago) at an assembly in California (the Bay area) there was a "brother" on stage who was telling the story about what had happened to his wife. She was a "pioneer" I believe and was conductiong a "free home bible study" with a women, when in comes some guy( I can't remember if it was the womens ex boyfriend or gang related or what??) but he pulls out a gun and starts shooting and kills the "pioneer sister" and I think the other women died as well(not sure though). That poor "brother" was so heart broken,understandably,and they had 3 or 4 kids that he had to now care for himself,and he had a typical low paying JW job. As I sat there listening to this I wondered about all the millions of times I heard how angels and holy spirit was helping/protecting all those in the witnessing work especially the "pioneers". I had just went through a tramatic event with our second child dying within minutes of being born. So my preception of how alot of the JW's think about things like this, changed for me. I even had a long time "pioneer sister" who was dying from cancer come up to me, a few days after loosing our son, and say,"now we're even". And all the other stupid remarks you hear like how "jehovah blessed me this time" with the birth of our next child( he forgot to bless me the time before ya know,my faith needed to be tested). I guess I've got a little off subject but I was a 4th generation JW and the only thing I was ever told was if your a "sister" to go in "service" in two's.

Interestingly Enough some idiot at the WTBTS graphic design dept has not only got the tablet upside down but back to front, so the text reads the wrong way.

The reason i am asking for more details is because i intend to come down to the M useum at some point. Are there any other things at the Museum that will prove the date of Jerusalem's destruction by the Babylonians in 586/7 BCE?

Desperate for Numbers!

i met someone earlier this week whose ex-spouse is a jw - part of a fairly prominent jw family in this area.

although never baptized, this person studied and went to meetings for about 4 years.

this person even disclosed that they had progressed to the point of being an unbaptized publisher.

Blondie you got that right ,LOL! I remember my Dad having us kids go into the bathroom to count how many were in there.There was always babies in there with thier Mom's so I would just count the Mom's. Well my dad one time asks me if I was sure there was only 2.I was like ...well yeah besides the babies.So he then informed us that we were to count all babies who were old enough to wave (about 8 months of age or so) he said as long as they have the ability to point to the sky when you ask them where Jehovah lives then that counts as a witness.Ha!

Now that I informed my parents I'm no longer going to go to meeting anymore my Mom trys to get a word in here or there about JW stuff and just told me I'm now her return visit.Whatever!

Were you ever scared of going to prison as a JW?...

i remember growing up a jw and always being told that someday the goverment would turn on us and throw us in prison.. i was watching a documentary on national geographic about san quinton prison and it brought back old memories of those fears.. i remember thinking how scared i would be if i had to go to prison and what i could do to protect myself.

i would think of how i could just stay in my cell all the time so no one could hurt me.

especially after seeing stories on the news about riots and rapes and people getting stabbed.. leave it to the jw's to make a kid worry about going to prison.

I feared going to concentration camps and what might happen to my kids.

My Grandpa went to prison in WW II for 3 years.His brother (my great uncle) went to prison for 7 years and his JW wife who married him right before he was hauled off, divorced him 2 years later(wonder why).

My Grandpa is still alive and kick'n today and he's the PO of a cong. He's a total "brown noser" and if the WTS says it's a green book and it's really blue,well then, by golly, it's a green book. It makes me sad to think of all the things that go on behind closed doors in JC meetings and what these elders do.He's been a PO for like 50 years.I know that whatever the WTS would told him to do he would do and wouldn't even ask any questions.He's a nice man but that part of him I have no respect for, it makes me disgusted.

I love global warming! I live in one of the coldest places on this planet,we're talk'n 50 and 60 degrees below zero! I do my part by running my diesel truck all winter long.LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Governments generally choose not to receive policy advice on climate from independent scientists. Rather, they seek guidance from their own self-interested science bureaucracies and senior advisers, or from the IPCC itself.

I think this is true in many aspects of life and that's why it's important to do your "homework". I've learned a hard lesson being a JW,don't always take "their" word for it,or "their" proof of it. You may be quite surprised what you find once you start looking/digging. And I have to be willing to look at myself and laugh at how stupid I was to believe what I thought to be so true and be humble enough to admit I was wrong and be free to change my mind. And there are plenty things that I look at and have to admit that 'I just don't know'.

Alaska has about 6 months of sticking it where the sun don't shine, right?

LOL!! Well maybe not that long,ha ha!! Above the arctic circle it would be, but I'm a bit below that.In the darkest part of the year,winter solstice,we have maybe 3 hours of daylight,great for watching the northern lights. But in the summertime it's hella cool with bearly 3 hours of darkness and it never really get's dark enough to see the stars.It's the Home of the Midnight Sun!

My husband is a die hard rock climber and has been for many years. And yes it was very "frowned upon" but he always did it anyways.(I've got to get him registered on here so he can post too)

Yeah statistically it's far worse for you to go skiing. But so many JW's go skiing for the WTS to "frown" upon it. We now live in Alaska in the "Interior" not much rock but lots of wide open wilderness to ride your snow machines! Besides the tons of other things to do here...skiing/snow boarding,ice fishing/fishing,Ice climbing,shoot'n,shoot'n and more shoot'n,kayaking,polyamy(ha ha, he wishes)oh and apostatizing.LOL! He's in heaven livin' the Alaskan dream.And the WTS can go stick it where the sun don't shine!

By the way welcome,we're new out of the bOrg as well.
