This is frustrating
by bluecanary ini'm filling out an application to volunteer with big sisters.
they want references.
specifically: "please type or print information requested for three references that are non-family members who have known you well on a personal basis for at least two years.

What about "worldly" neighbors from where you used to live? Or former employers / co-workers?

just a few questions I don't want to ask directly hell
by Janey214 inhello - first may i apologise for capital letters my keyboard has gone screwy.
for the last several months i have been having meetings with two really nice women from the jw organisation.
i don't want to offend anyone by asking these questions i am simply trying to better understand how the watchtower came about without listening to too much anti stuff.

Welcome, Janey214.
CT Russell and the original members were neither prophets or scholars, just businessmen.
The Watchtower is a publishing company masquerading as a religion. Many here would call it a cult, too.
Not one of their scripture-twisting prophecies has come true in over 130 years.
Some of the doctrines were borrowed from failed Adventists, others were made up as needed.
They enforce many man-made (and unChristian) rules that are not found anywhere in the Bible.
The doctrines can change at any time the Governing Body (or their lawyers) see fit. YOU MUST accept them or face being put out as an "apostate."
No doubt the ladies you've met seem very nice. They are trying to recruit you so you will become enslaved to pushing Watchtower propaganda just like they do. Sadly, they believe that their lives depend upon it.

Huge development concerning Watchtower.org and "apostate" comments.
by DT inwouldn't you love to comment on the watchtower.org site so that other visitors can see what you think about their doctrinal flip flops, false prophecies and dangerous medical practices?.
it's no surprise that watchtower.org doesn't allow comments.
they know that "apostates" would point out the embarrassing details about their religion and history.

Useful tool for websites such as 4chan. But in your hands? I sense this won't be good...

The End...Finally!
by XJW4EVR inthis morning the bastard that attacked my wife with the intention of raping her was sentenced to 25 years to life plus five years.
he must serve a minimum of 30 years.
thank god for the three strikes law (i know that some of the liberals on this board may not join me in my gratitude for the voters of california's wisdom in making that law).

Thanks for sharing those points about laws in Cali, truthseeker. Here in NJ, most sex offenders are sent to Avenel, a camp for "counseling" to keep them out of the general population. Because they'd probably be ripped limb from limb in a real prison.
It doesn't work. The number one thing they learn from each other is how to skirt Megan's Law. I have firsthand experience with this "process," and it sucks because the system is a self-reporting, self-defeating failure. Parole officers are useless.
It is a travesty to families everywhere.
