  Being a JW: Like a Competitive Sport???

  one thing i hate about being a jw is all of the competition.

  i've been actively fading for about several months now.

  but, to make the family happy i attended a meeting about a week ago.

  Definately. I remember when I was growing up in the "truth" that my erstwhile friends and I would see who could get the most time in field service during our summer vacation. Of course, this "friendly" competition was encouraged by the elders whom no doubt saw this as a way to boost congregations stats, which would allow them to bask the CO praise and exaltations.

  As I became a teenager it all boiled down to who was more spiritual. I remember when I told a "friend" of mine that I was going to pursue a career in chemistry he looked at me and said, " Well I am going to pursue regular pioneering and than I am going to Bethel. Quite pathectic if you ask me. By this point I was through with the "sport" if thats what one would like to call it.

  Are you saying an individual that holds God's favor is his faithful and discreet slave and that he channels spirtual food through his son Jesus Christ as shown in

  1 st Timothy 2:5 for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus

  Because faithful and discreet slave is in the singular or as the KJV puts it "...a faithful and wise servant"

  I just want to verify this is what you meant.

  I am struggling with this question as a result of my decision to delve deeper into the bible and my desire to truly ascertain the connatations of its verses. I have heard people on a regular basis in school call organized religion a sham and the belief in a God a sham. These are the very same people who glorify rationalistic reasoning based upon a materialistic philosphy as being surpreme. To me this view is one of arrogance and the many philosphers one reads such as Marx and Rousseau only present their views in terms of idealism. Even so, I can't see how people could even begin to hold such a view in the first place if one were to think abstractly about it, therefore, how can imperfect man produce perfect solutions would they not be inherently imperfect as a reflection of his own imperfect state?

  I am really hung up on God's use of a faithful and discreet slave and the many biblical examples of using sherpards to manage his flock (Such as the apostle Paul overseeing the Christian congregations in the Meditterrean Region) on earth as shown by Matt. 24:45. To me this shows us that God does have an organization here on earth.

  Does anyone have any insight they would like to share on this matter??

  Something Good we can learn from the Organization

  even though most of us here absolutley despise the organization, there is something we can learn from it and that is how to become sucessful business owners ourselves.

  it can not be denied that the organization is a multi-billion dollar corporation as a result of the millions of dollars that pour into the hq each year from donations it receives.

  we can study the watchtower's organizational structure and decide what we like about their corporate governance and what we don't like.

  Even though most of us here absolutley despise the organization, there is something we can learn from it and that is how to become sucessful business owners ourselves. It can not be denied that the organization is a multi-billion dollar corporation as a result of the millions of dollars that pour into the HQ each year from donations it receives. We can study the Watchtower's organizational structure and decide what we like about their corporate governance and what we don't like. This possibly could be used to synthesize our own ideas on how an organization should be run. Even though we may see them as the enemy sort to speak, a good commander is never afraid to copy the tactics of his enemy and use them against him to accomplish his destruction.

  would you still remember most names of jw's in your congregation if you saw them again.. let it be the children or people your age or older.. gee, even when i was active, i knew less than half the names of brothers and sisters and their kids..

  Your great deep secret

  tell us one of your great deep secrets that you are willing, and don't mind, to share with other people.

  one of my secrets is that when i was 14 years old (and before becoming a jw) i had sex with a girl my age and also her sister who was one year older than me.

  fortunately their mother didn't find out though i think she was suspecting that something fishy was going on.

  LoL being one of Jehovah's Witnesses...

  There are only a select few that know about my association ("wordly" people) with them when I was a minor.

  I have a certain aurora ( did I spell that right?) that people see about me and to tell them I used to be a JW would ruin my image...besides most people look upon you differently when you tell them you were a JW...they just don't get it...for most its beyond their comphrension to understand what it means to be part of the WTS organization..

  LoL I am also eyeing a future political career...can't have people knowing I was a JW.

  I also wanted to mention my wife to be finally knows that I used to be a JW...telling her that was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life...I didn't want to lose her on the account of some wacko religious organization.

  Not a single one...

  I failed on trying to get my "friends" to leave when I did...

  It didn't matter how cogent my agruements were...

  They didn't have the guts....

  oh well

  I could care less about them now
