Its sort of a matter of how you view God. Grace cannotes something given with pleasure, while Undeserved Kindness images something given with reluctance.

Undeserved kindness versus Grace - does it matter?
by misspeaches injust wondering if its just me or not.... does it matter to anyone else that the wtbts changed the word grace to undeserved kindness in the nwt?
in my opinion having changed it to undeserved kindness they use this as a way to guilt trip people into always doing more more more!
where as grace is just grace.

Strange martyrdom: What are the cases where the Bible requires martyrdom?
by Check_Your_Premises inthe whole blood issue has been a topic of conversation with my jw loved ones.. one thing they always fall back to is "this life doesn't matter compared to our eternal salvation".
see, they think that by disobeying the bible on the issue of blood, risks their eternal life.
if they are forced to concede that the bible doesn't exactly say that, then they fall back to the need to choose martyrdom before disobeying the organization.

The first definition for a Martyr means that you suffer (not necessarily die) for a principle, usually religious (but not necessarily so). Although one who dies for their country is considered a patriot, they are, technically, a martyr as well. The second definition mentions dying for a religious belief.
Your question is excellent, as it begs at the very base of religion. Were Job's children martyrs? How about Abel, Cain, all the rest of us poor slobs, who are condemned to die. It may not be our principle that we are getting whacked for, and we certainly don't have a choice in the matter, but it seems like we're all dying because of some principle that was struck up back in the GOE. It would seem that a person who decided to take blood and keep living (or any other sane medical procedure), is no more or less a martyr than the goober who refuses the blood and takes the Big Sleep.
Which is why the whole martyr thing (as pretty much all of religion) is rendered meaningless. Does the man who decides to take the blood and keep on living so his children will have a father, his wife have a husband, perform any less of a sacrifice than the man who takes a bullet for them? Wow, what a pain in the ass God is gonna have when that guy comes up for ressurrection/parole: Well, lets see here. Oooops, looks like you took blood! Now, that's a major biggy! But, hmmm, seems like you did it to help other people, which means you were willing to give up everlasting life for another person. Theres a precedent here, oh yes, no greater sacrifice has a man than one who gives up his life for his brother. Oh, there's the loophole. None of those people were your brother. ZZZZAAaaaaaappp! Next!!!

Emily Dickenson
by cosmic inmy favorite poet is emily dickenson, a beautiful sould trapped for and because of love.
it doesn't take a great deal of reading of her stuff to feel the "moderninity" of her thought.
i would like to hear from whomever ladies decide to contribute what their particular feelings are as to love and being loved might be and what god ( be he(r) jehovah, jesus, bob, sam, or augie) might have put into their hearts as to what "love" really is and why it is different from the interpretation(s) of us beer swilling swine.

Not very many ladies I've met over the years have been able to do that. Ladies, tell me/us what you feel that God (be he Jehovah, Jesus, Frank, Bob, or Sam) has put into your DNA/soul that you so wish for upon this earth. You don't know how much softness it is to the harshness of our male ears that it settles upon.

Should we evaluate satan's thoughts, to see if we agree or not?
by DavidChristopher inshould we just take others word, and blame everything on him, without seaching and trying to see if there was a reason for what he did?.
is there a chance, he could have been doing what jehovah wanted him to do?
or was he meant to be a "fall guy" for us?

cosmic
DC,
And what do you think of us being "waves, tossed about upon the sea"?

DC,
Yes. Now, don't drop any ashes on the sofa, I just had it cleaned.
Why do you want to find out? Will it make any difference? Some folks think that the worst part of capital punishment is that the condemmed knows precisely when they will die, in advance.

How does one get "caught out driving around" in a hurricane? That's kind of like, "I once walked in front of this train."

What, did he win 2nd place? 1st place was 10 days as a Muslim? I have a question about Muslims, whenever I see shots of them on CNN and MSNBC, they are always in a Mosque somewhere with those little rugs, and somebody, off camera, not miked up, apparently shouts, "Okay, everybody, show Allah your butt!" What's up with that?

DC,
"Well if I REALLY belived in God (I do by the way) and He said He was going to kill and destroy my friends, family, and enemies who had alot of weaknesses and didn't measure up to His standards. " Then, they are already dead.
"I would have to do something, and if I could not defend them in court with success, I would rather take the punishment meant for them, rather than lose my case, and let down my client(s)" Quite noble of you. However, that is YOUR choice, not mine, His, Her's, It's, Our's, or Their's.
If you indeed believe in God, then relax. Have another toke, wait for the little sparkly things to come, and enjoy another episode of South Park. If God has got it all figured out, great, then its His problem, and I assume you have envisioned Him with enough power to do the job. Now, if you've created Him with only enough power to have Him expect me or you to do the job, well, then we need to discuss better God creation skills.
