I'm very sorry to hear about your situation, first you must reconise by now that your boyfriend has been extremely dishonest with you by not telling you he's a witness. I hate to tell you this, but he feels, and this has happened many a times, that he can get you to come into his faith and convert and you to will live happily ever after. Many witnesses get involved in relationships with people outside their faith, wait until they are very seriously involved and then throw their faith at them when they are at a serious point in their relationship. You have to understand that if he is talking about marriage with you, and he talks about still loving the JW faith he fully intends on being able to convert you later on. He sincerely believes that you'll reconise his religion to be the 'truth' from God and you'll happily convert over to his faith and be a happy little JW like him. If this is not what you want you must make this known to him NOW! Don't put this off as it will only cause YOU more pain down the road if he dumps you because you refuse to convert to his faith.

last night i had a talk with someone and this one idea came to me, what if there is a god, but he is not perfect, and where did this idea of god=perfect come from?

God is an all thogether abstract idea, no two people can agree on what God is like even if they both study the same religios books, because the books that talk about God are just that, books. God does not speak to us and doesn't answer questions, most religions believe that we are able to speak to God, but all are divided, even within the same religion, on the issue of how or if God talks to us. It may be argued that God speaks to us indrectly, but this cannot be proved. That thought boils down to superstition. In other words, if you think God is perfect than he is, if you think God is imperfect than he is. As far as God being a real person, there is no way to prove this point one way or another. Science has been able to explain how just about everything we see around us has come about with the need to insert a creator into the mix anywhere, so it is reasonable to say that if God does exist he hasn't done much if anything to affect how things are running here on the earth. But if we were to look at the earth itself, their is no one creature or object or process on the earth that can be described as perfect, if not for evolution and species ability to adapt life wouldn't be here anymore. So I would say that the material evidence avaible on the earth and the universe points to any potential God as being inherantly imperfect.

To be a JW is by definition is arrogant, you believe that your the only group in the whole world with the truth. However, I was never one to act pious just to get reconition in the congregation. People like that make me wanna puke, to try and put on a show for the elders and the congregation just so you can lord it over them and put others down. I just wanna punch em in the mouth.

by i am a good soul inive never been punished like that i my home.
my family always talked to me and we would decide a non-physical punishment.
i was wandering, is still common for jw family to spank their children and if so, does the spanking continue into their late teens, even adults.

Seriously, I don't agree with it. I think the use of violence will only teach the child that violence is acceptable. I believe that most people spank when they are in the heat of anger and that sends the wrong message to the child. It is always better to try and redirect the bad behavior if possible and use punishment as a last result. Everyone parents differently though, but punishment in any form is difficult. Spanking is probably the easiest to adminster and is the most satisfying to the parent, but I feel it is the worst form of disipline a parent could use. If you do decide to use it I would suggest you only do so in extreme cases and never do it out of anger.

You have to look at what's behind the question, fear. The dubs have been trained with the thinking 'This is the TRUTH and if we leave we'll have no where else to go'. So they always ask the question when cornered with infomation about the orgination that they can't answer. You have to release that the question itself is not a reason for staying in the borg, even if there is no where else to go it is no reason to stay in an orgination that tells lies. Dubs want another place to jump into that has the same rigid rules for when they leave so they don't feel lost and confused with all their freedom. If they just left cold turkey they would have to face the fact that everything they have been doing for the past X number of years has been in vain and thats not an easy thing to admit. Its much easier to just look the other way and say well their imperfect but I'll stick with them because I have no where else to go.

if you call you credit card companies and say that you had a better offer with another company, for a lower interest rate, they will lower your interest rate to match or maybe even make it lower.

Indeed there was a time when I was younger when I use to go to Yahoo chat groups just because the society said it was wrong and evil, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Anyways, they always have about 50 people in the room(s) and people are coming and going all the time and it gets to the point where you can't follow what anyone is saying. The BBS style is much easier to handle. However, I did have fun going into gay and lesiban groups and posting jokes lie "What does GAY stand for? ... Got AIDS Yet?" and watch everyone get all rilied up. lol
