at latest round of co to elders meeting, the co quoted from the society outline.
any elder or ms who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.. he then asked if i was going to take the cos encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.. i replied "i will never be an elder again - i strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself.
College enhances the thinking process and of course the WT does all the thinking for the JW's
so therefore college is evil. How dare you or your children learn how to reason, think, evaluate and make
logical decisions. All you need to do is listen to us and do as we say. Yeah right.
for me, it's having friends that i don't have to hide my lack of meeting attendance/service from.
it's amazing how they teach you that only jws can be your real friends, but in reality, it's all contingent upon your religious "performance.
" sure, if you're not going to meetings, they'll try to be "friends," by encouraging you to go back.

i wasn't raised a jw, but my wife was and everytime the co makes a visit to our congregation for a week - we had to make sure nothing was going to interrupt our meeting attendance.

When I was around 13 years old, I recognized the hypocrisy of our elder body during the CO visit.
I noticed they were all there early, greeting everyone with big (fake) cheesy smiles, made sure
the mics and music were ready so the meeting could start on time, etc.....things they were suppose
to do. But they only did it when the CO visited. After he was gone, they went right back to their
regular slacking routine.
my mother had this discussion yesterday.
basically, my main argument was that if the fds gets jehovah's holy spirit and their "food" is "the truth", yet they always are correcting themselves, how can anyone in all fairness believe it's "the truth"??
you can't show scripturally why organ transplants are a form of cannibalism and clearly a disfellowshipping offense and a couple of years later after possible disfellowshippings or death, and then believe jehovah god changed his view suddenly.
Willful deception, blantant contradictions and hypocrisy.
i have been coming here for some months y i must admit that i am still in.
but i have serious doubts, i mean, i am 99.9% convinced, the jws are not the true religion, but i still live with my family, and they are jws, and i love them.
my parents have a long time been jws, and it is very hard for me to tell them the truth.
Take them to page 621 proclaimers book where it says

Ask them have they ever done this? Have they ever read any of the books and magazines Russell wrote? Maybe even mention
a tid bit of something Russell taught that most JW's know nothing about. Just enough to whet their appetite. Everything being hinged on
compliance with the above quote from the Proclaimers book. So you're not questioning the organization, you're following their direction.
See if they are willing to do what the Society says they as Jehovah’s Witnesses supposedly have already done.
Ask them to call Bethel and request some of Russells publications so they can be in line with what Proclaimers book.
Let them feel the shock of realizing they won't get anything of Russells from Brooklyn. If they are sincere they will want to do
the research on their own and you will be able to share what you have learned with them.
folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.
nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.
"why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".
I've brought these points to my moms attention. Her reaction is she's satisfied with her life.
I don't believe it and I don't think she does either but that's her JW defense mode kicking in.
We lived in a house in the 1970's that the owner offered to her for twenty thousand dollars.
She refused because she didn't need to own a home with armegeddon right around the corner.
Over 30 years later and she's still renting. Even though she admits she regrets not buying the house,
she's still satisfied with her life. Yeah right. The list of missed opportunities I've brought to her
attention goes on and on, yet the JW, "Im among the happiest people on the earth" mindset overrides
her commen sense, so she's satisfied. She has invested so much of her life, time and effort that she
feels a need to desperately cling to what she has, even if it's an illusion. It's sad.
do you think they make the best parents?.
the best children?.
the best workers?.
To a greater or lesser extent they are a reflection of the organization.........nuff said.

If they believe it, it's only because they refuse to and/or see no reason to research their own beliefs. Rather
like most JW's they have taken everything for granted, and sacrifice all questions they might have upon the alter of
"new light" to come. Hyprocrisy and double standards, suppression and altering of information (willful deception),
dictatorship-like authoritarianism and abuse of power is not fertile soil for sincerity, honesty and candor.
Applying to them the same standards they use to adversely judge other religions clearly shows that they
are far from sincerely misguided.

The GB and other high rankers know their history just like we do. Their motives are evil because inspite of
this they continue to perpetuate untruth. If they were sincere about what they are doing, they would be open
to the questions and serious concerns expressed to them, instead of using the hammer of authority to quell
anything remotely similar to dissent in their eyes. They are on a power trip.
Their contridictions and double standards are too blantant to give them
the benefit of the doubt. Many of us have learned the hard way that the lack of love and abuse of authority seen
on the local level is the result of the example set on the higher levels. Thus a trickle down effect. Many of us
have called Brooklyn and recieved rude, unloving treatment because we asked the wrong questions or didn't
allow our intelligence to be insulted by accepting a BS answer. Many of us have had discussions with die-hard JW's
and realize that the truth (meaning the opposite of a lie) doesn't matter to them. A sincere lover of truth has the
courage to damn the consequences and stand up for what is right.
what page is it in the proclaimers book that states how jehovahs witnesses by reviewing what russell taught.
are convinced that god was using him in a special way?
