OK there's an important question here that seems to be in the backs of people's minds but has not yet (that I know of) been directly and politely asked.
JW, why, exactly, are you here? How did you find this place and what are your intentions?
i rented a house in the late !970's and the contents in the home were given to me.. it happened to be books: ( making my life happy, revelation, children bible stories, listening to the great teacher ) i was enjoying the reading.. -----------------------------------.
a few years later began to notice awake magazines in doctor offices, and other public places and read them and enjoyed them.. ------------------------------------.
late 1980's my 7th son was 2 yrs.

the current pop psychology about cults is drawing a very strong parallel between cult victims and "battered woman syndrome".
1. the woman believes that the violence was her fault.. 2. the woman has an inability to place the responsibility for the violence elsewhere.. 3. the woman fears for her life and/or her children's lives.. 4. the woman has an irrational belief that the abuser is omnipresent and omniscient.. i myself have noticed certain abusive patterns in my relationships with my jw relatives.
a lot of it comes from my dad and now when i think about it, i think of it as manipulative, "jedi mind tricks" he tries to play on me.. has anyone else noticed manipulative and/or downright abusive undercurrents among jws?

ok, this is gross.. i use to work in a restaurant in fl.
this lady use to come in that we called poopy pants.
(not to her face) anyway, she would sit, eat, and go to the bathroom like clockwork.
I can't believe I even read this thread, let alone reply to it.
My sister used to work at a Sirloiner in Vancouver. One day, according to her, one of the homeless guys that lived under the Granville St. bridge came in and left a huge pile of poo right beside the toilet.
Obviously some sort of clever social commentary.

ok all time to get real.
child abuse is not limited to jw's.. if you truly want to stop child abuse first start with the family , and be honest we all have a relative that is a pedophile.. then protect your family from stranger danger.. don't just isolate to jw's.. expand and truly stop the child abuse world wide.
Is it just me or did "JW" just equate pedophiles, molesters and murderers to homosexuals?
Funny how if you wait a little while the true colors start to show.

JW: You cannot be right about cops being JWs. Being a police officer means taking up a potentially (and often actually) violent career, where your sworn duty just may be to kill someone. There is a fundamental conflict here, and therefore a person simply cannot have this job and be a witness.
That you should choose to claim otherwise seriously undermines your credibility and makes me and others wonder why the hell we're bothering to talk to you in the first place.

er, JW, just how many witnesses do you know who have chosen careers in law enforcement? When last I checked, that was a "no-no".
It's questionable at best to encourage an abuse victim to go into law enforcement, something about them going overboard and losing whatever objectivity they may have.
Besides, you don't have to be a victim to hate abusers. Everyone seems to.
i found this thread on the justjw's forum.
it made me feel so sad for the poster, i wondered how long she'd been waiting for paradise to arrive.
checking her posting history reveals a very lonely 26 year old medical worker who swings between despair and delight..
JW: and just how would you go about "saving this person's life"? I bet it's something watchtower related. You'd probably quote a bunch of tripe from the watchtower and expect that to do the trick.
Just like a scientologist who tells you to "go back to ethics and handle it"

insular, sectarian groups like the JWs that do their best to appear holier-than-thou are particularly prone to this sort of abuse, that's a sociological fact.
the emphasis on image creates a situation of denial, where people refuse to accept that so-and-so is a scumbag pedophile, and the victims are suppressed and otherwise punished for coming forward because they tarnish the image of the group.
They have an attitude like that old SNL character, Fernando, who used to say, tis better to look good than to feel good.
i don't know how i ever doubted that intelligent design was correct!
after watching a video involving kirk cameron, i now see the error of my ways, and will be tithing 50% of my income to the church every month out of contrition.. .
you want to know the mighty argument that changed my views, and my life, forever?
The sad part is that most of the best arguments for creationism are in there.. this kind of logic is not limited to a few dumbasses, this is the kind of trap fallen into by anyone who claims that creationism is "proven" or that there is somehow evidence of it, or that it holds it's own against evolution as a theory.
As per usual, science is twisted and perverted: the claim that evolution represents randomness when it does not. The assumption that complexity and order can only come from equal or greater complexity and order, which forms a logical trap that cannot be salvaged, it can only be ignored and denied. If complexity can only come from equal or greater complexity, then where did the previous complexity come from?
